<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Honeymoon in full swing, Knick president Isiah Thomas and Larry Brown sat side by side yesterday at a Garden restaurant, in their dark blue suits and blue power ties. During a 57-minute interview, the Knicks' new blockbuster tandem were cautious about expectations for this season. Neither mentioned the word "playoffs" once, even though the club's payroll is a league-high $113 million and they have one of the game's best coaches. Thomas and Brown sang each other's praises and were more comfortable speaking in generalities, about seeing improvement over last season's 33-49 disgrace. "I hope I can make a difference," Brown said in his strongest remark. "I'm going to try my hardest to make this franchise proud of the team we put out there." With a young, imbalanced roster heavy on guards, with three first-round picks and an unproven starting center in Jerome James, Thomas stayed away from predictions. "As I sit here right now, I can't say how many games we'll win or what position we'll end up in," Thomas said. "[Last season] was a very unpleasant taste in my mouth and the players' mouths. They're committed to getting better, but we'll see. We just want to be better than we were last year." The only "P" word in play was point guards and there is a looming threat of a PG controversy. Brown reiterated Stephon Marbury will play some shooting guard, feeling Jamal Crawford "has potential to run a team" and said 5-9 rookie Nate Robinson is in the mix. "To have two guys back there, having those kind of talents is unique," Brown said. "And the little kid, he has a chance to be pretty special." Brown has already started to make his mark. He requested they spend an extra two days at their Charleston training camp, which begins Tuesday, extending it from seven to nine days. "I love training camp," Brown said. "You have 28 days before the first game. Especially with a new coaching staff and a lot of new players; the more you can just focus in on basketball, the better you'll be. When you go home, you got family, different issues. It might be a no-brainer."</div> New York Post
Does anybody have any news on Sweetney? I havent heard about him all summer long and would like to know if he improved his game over the offseason. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
