MEDINA, Ohio (Nov. 4, 2005) -- Cleveland Browns running back Reuben Droughns has pleaded not guilty to drunken driving and two other charges. Droughns' attorney, Neal Jamison, entered a written plea, according to municipal court records. A trial has been set for Dec. 16. Droughns was stopped early Nov. 1 after a state trooper spotted a vehicle speeding and weaving in traffic in suburban Cleveland. Authorities said the 27-year-old Droughns failed a field sobriety test, and agreed to a blood-alcohol test that registered .08, the state's legal limit. He was charged with driving under the influence, failing a breathalyzer test and traveling 50 mph in a 35-mph zone. Droughns apologized for the arrest and said he hopes to be cleared of the charges. Coach Romeo Crennel has said the organization would allow the case to go through the court system before deciding on any discipline.
