Post 'em here! I've got a few ... A few years back, I went into a tattoo shop on SE Grand a couple blocks south of Burnside with a buddy. Rasheed Wallace was in there getting his "Sun God" tattoo done. He gave me the "kill whitey" stare down. LOL. A year or so after that, I was with my girlfriend at the time doing some shopping up around NW 23rd. We walked into Urban Outfitters, and Rasheed was in there with his girlfriend (or wife ???). He looked bored as hell, and he plopped down into one of those tiny inflatable chairs that was popular during that time. Never forget the hilarious look of a 7 foot tall dude cramming himself into a fluorescent orange inflatable chair meant for a kid. Last year, at the Blazers fan fest, I was up in the Suite Level getting ready to watch the scrimmage. It was right after they opened the doors for the fans. We had heard the players were going to be greeting the fans at the turnstiles as they walked into the arena. But we said "fuck it" and decided we didn't want to wait in line and went straight to the suite and preferred seating entrance and up to the suite. I went into the suite and took my jacket off to hang in the closet and all the sudden I hear a "Hey, nice jersey" from someone behind me, complimenting me on my red B-Roy jersey. I turned around and it was B-Roy, who was going around and saying hi to all the fans in the suites. We talked for a couple minutes. I totally credit his great season to the wisdom I imparted to him in our short conversation. Anyways ... I know some of you fools have got better stories than me. Who was at the strip club when Qyntel Woods got in a fight? Who ran into Z-Bo with his Hoops Fam? Who almost got run over by a Yellow Hummer on I-5 with smoke pouring out the windows?
a few years back damon stoudamire was playing in a softball tournament that my dad was playing...it was when he was still with the blazers...he was nice, and signed a softball for me...he was really fast on the bases lol, sheed was on the team too, but didnt play that weekend
*Jerome Kersey and Mark Bryant at a Rib joint on MLK. *The Schonz and Derek Anderson at the grocery store.
Roy just last weekend. Travis Outlaw at the Hot Seat multiple times. Przy at the CostCo in N. Wilsonville. Oden at Target in N. Wilsonville. LMA at Fred Meyer in Tualatin. Darius Miles at Cold Stone Creamery in Tualatin two years ago. That's enough for now. Living by the practice facility makes "sightings" a rather common occurence.
Ah, Schonz at the Albertson's in Wilsonville, and also driving around. He's the guy with the "RIP CITY" plates.
I've got a few: 1) I was 8 years old and the legislature was voting on a bill to make the Blazers "Oregon's Team". I went there to see if any Blazers and by a stroke of luck Terry Porter was walking up the front steps with his assistant, and nobody else was within sight. He stopped, talked to me for a minute and gave me an autograph. I thought life couldn't get any better than that! 2) Sat 2 feet from Jeff Mcinnis and Zach Randolph at Benihana. They both were very friendly. Z-Bo must have ate 5 bowls of fried rice before his meal. Last May (a week after we were eliminated) I was there while Bayless and Aldridge were eating dinner. The entire place left them alone until the got up to leave, where the majority of the restaurant gave them a nice ovation. It was pretty cool. 3) A good friend of mine has a family who is in the car dealership. Rod Strickland came down to do a commercial for them. He was a total jack-ass. 4) Shonz invited my friend and I to sit on the Blazers bench during the 5th quarter show he hosted. He was very short with us, then preceded to go off on the producer of the show because his mic wasn't working properly. I hadn't heard as many consecutive expletives used in one sentance in my entire life. 5) Waiting for Blazer/Rocket tickets the night after the Denver came. Wheels came up to my good friend and gave him $40 to buy all of us Egg McMuffin's once daylight hit.
Greg Oden (just off his MF surgery and still in crutches) waited a couple feet from my fiancee, her family and I for a table at benihana's. The manager got his picture taken with Greg; my fiancee's brother is in the corner of the photo looking like a dork because he lives in Chicago and didn't know who the "tall black guy" was. The girl on Oden's arm was dreamy. I also ran into The Schonz at the Beaverton DMV; he was getting some update to his license or something. He wasn't happy. He was just leaving as I was walking in to get my license upgraded to the new type.
- On separate occasions, I saw Fred Jones and Viktor at the Nordstrom's at Lloyd Center with their ladies. They looked bored as hell shopping while other people were probably spending their money. - And I saw Uncle Cliffy at a 3 on 3 tournament in Canby. - He's not a Blazer but I saw Mark Eaton at the Fred Meyer by PGE Park. Totally out of the blue, and was wondering what he was doing here. The guys is huge. Wish I could see some more high-profile names though.
Played paintball w/Rasheed, then he smoked a fatty in the blue/black hummer. Saw Martel Webster in Safeway (Murry Hill) that dude is freaking tall. Shook his hand. Saw Jamaal Magloire in Lloyd Center one day, wearing a full suede or velvet get-up.
Sabonis walked right past me and my wife in the lobby of Atwaters one night. Dude was so huge it felt like it took him about 2 minutes to pass by. I would run into Uncle Cliffy at Huber's every once in a while. Jerome Kersey came into McCall's one morning when I was having me after shift 12 beers.
I remember hearing a story about a little league game going on, and this kid does into the bathroom and terry porter walked in. then kid runs out and shouts "hey guys terry porter is in the bathroom!"
Saw Brian Skinner at Wa Sq. Mall Saw Jermaine O'Neal at that gym across the street from their practice facility (cant remember the gym name) Got Cliff Robinsons autograph after a game when I was a kid. I think that is all.
Oh, forgot my favorite one. Darius Miles cruising up and down our cul de sac in this ride. My kids thought it was awesome. Miles even waved at them as they stood gawking on the sidewalk.
