OC Register The Lakers' nine days in Hawaii wound down late Wednesday night with Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom talking on the bench as an unsightly 112-81 exhibition loss to the Golden State Warriors wrapped up. Their topic of conversation: how it takes more than nine days to learn the triangle offense. Coach Phil Jackson mentioned the day before that Bryant has displayed "patience" with his teammates' learning curve. The theme was the same when Bryant and Odom were chatting on the bench - specifically as it pertains to Odom's indoctrination to organizing the triangle. "You just stay patient, that's all," Bryant said. "I was in that spot once. I was up there running the guard and didn't know what I was doing. Guys had to be patient with me. It just required a lot of work with Tex (Winter), and I had Ron Harper there guiding me. "And now the shoe's on the other foot. When I was going through it, I wanted people to be patient with me. I'm just reciprocating." Said Odom: "He was saying that I'm learning the role he was five or six years ago. So he understands. The triangle is different. You need four or five guys to understand what's really going on to be effective." On the bright side for Bryant and Odom, the disarray Wednesday night was even more rampant once they exited late in the third quarter. The Lakers made just one field goal in the fourth quarter. I think learning the triangle will do wonders for Odom's career, and I don't know if there could be a better teacher than Bryant for Odom.
Hey, thinking of Odom and Bryant in pratice reminds me of... Pippen and Jordan and how they pushed each other to new heights..
