    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Los Angeles Times -
After saying that he wanted to be traded on ESPN Radio early Wednesday, and then seemingly retracting that demand later in the day, Kobe Bryant spoke to The Los Angeles Times late in the afternoon Wednesday and said he still wanted off the Lakers.

At 5:27 PM, Bryant affirmed his first position as stated on the air Wednesday morning.

"Nothing's changed," Bryant said. "It's just a matter of I don't want to go no place else. I don't have much of a choice. When things like this go down, you just sit back. What can I do? It's like a broken record."

When asked if he still wanted to be traded, Bryant reportedly expressed no hesitation or doubt in quickly answering "Yes."</div>

According to Bucher's report, he's meeting with Dr. Buss today, so it's just wait and see at this point.

I think Kobe is confused and he's letting these media guys abuse him and force him into making a decision. They play on his emotions. They ask him questions where he's obviously going to say he doesn't trust the organisation etc, etc.. and THEN after getting him pissed off, they ask him if he wants to be traded.

At one point in the first interview, he said that he totally trusted Buss because of Buss's blunt honesty. Ten minutes later, he's saying that Buss and co are lying. He needs to take a time out away from the media and make his own decision, instead of deciding in the heat of the moment.

Kobe's really coming off looking naive and exploited now. At some point, you'd think he'd realize that these people he's giving interviews and quotes to, are the same people who twist his words around and bash him regularly. The dude's got to shut out everyone until his meeting with the Lakers front office, because he's an emotional mess and what he's doing is counterproductive at this point.

I'm sure that if the Lakers don't bring O'neal and Kobe stays he might ask for a trade or maybe opt out just to screw the organization. The Lakers got make things happen because the West got a lot stronger. Bringing O'neal is still not enough maybe trading Kwame for Artest is better line-up.
    PG Farmar
    SG Bryant
    SF Artest
    PF O'neal
    C Mihm???
    Okay or worst???

This is an improvement, you have your 3 stars, Kobe-Artest-O'neal, and a solid balance of inside-outside scoring. We immediately improve defensively with those two in the lineup.

Mihm is a wildcard, because he hasn't played for 1 1/2 seasons, so there's a potential liability at center. Turiaf will have to vastly improve and possibly move into the starting rotation.

The Lakers also need to improve at Point guard. Jordan Farmar is solid, but having a veteran presence who can bring some consistency and close out games is needed. Sam Cassell? Jalen Rose? or some of the other free agents being mentioned, Steve Blake? Mo Williams? Charlie Bell?

This team should make it to at least Round 2 of the playoffs with this trio.

If you bring Artest and O'Neal Kobe will cream his jeans. I think Artest is a huge gain for the Lakers if he can sort his problems out, which won't happen. He is a great defender, and him Kobe and O'Neal is a trio I wouldn't mess with. If that can be brought to LA, I think the Lakers will much improve, and go back to becoming an elite team in the West again.

True Mihm is a wildcard we need to draft in my opinion a Center. Mo Williams and Steve Blake will be great at the PG position. I agree with that trio at least they should make it pass the second round.
I just hope Artest won't start fighting the fans!

Not really. Kobe would love to remain a Laker and win a championship as a Laker. However, if the Lakers aren't committed to winning one now, then he would like to be traded. His goal is to win, that hasn't changed.

It's been hard to follow this thing ever since the start, I was confused about the Bucher report and Kobe's later comments. Then I was confused about Kobe's own comments one day to the next, saying seemingly opposite things regarding whether or not he wants to stay.

Hopefully Dr. Buss or Mitch will make a statement declaring whether or not they intend to trade Kobe or keep Kobe, so I won't have to think about this entire situation.

He needs a vacation like badly because theres a saying that goes "be careful what you wish for because it just might happen". Kobe may regret asking for a trade.

He's just keeping the pressure on the management. They don't want to trade him, so I'm sure they are looking at other means of pleasing him.
