I decided that every day until Selection Sunday I'll post a team that's on the bubble to talk about. Give me your thoughts, opinions, and final verdict. Today's team is: Florida State RPI: 41 Schedule: 55th Record: 18-9 ACC Record: 6-7 3 Best Wins: #7 Wake Forest, # 11 North Carolina, #16 Georgia Tech 3 Worst Losses: at Clemson (RPI - 67), at Virginia (RPI - 50), at Maryland (RPI - 32) Florida State is in an interesting situation. They play a decent schedule and have a decent record, yet all of their quality wins have come at home. Their best road win was against lowly Miami. On the road, they're only 2-8. It's hard to deny them a tourny bid when you realize that their nine losses have pretty much all come to top fifty RPI teams, but the NCAA Tournament is about winning away from home. Also, teams rarely make it in with a losing conference record. That's why I feel Florida State will be denied.
Florida State just doesn't have it together this year. They have a good team, but if they wan't any shot to be in the tourny they need to find a way to win on the road. I don't think that they can make it, especialy if they can't beat Clemson and Maryland.
blah. they started off as hot as anyone.. i dont know if they're gonna make it. i'd give them a shot if i were on the selection committee. 65 teams get chosen.. they deserve to be one of them.
If they can become 7-9, they will make it. In the ACC, a 7-9 record is not too bad. They really haven't won on the road, which is there drawback, but you can't deny them because they have won at home.

The ACC is the "god" confrence of college basketball. The wins over Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest really help them out. To get in though they have to beat either Duke at home or Wake Forest/Georgia Tech away. Needless to say, I do not see them winning any of those three games. You better believe that Georgia Tech and Wake Forest will want some serious payback after losing to the Seminoles. If they can win one of those games however, count them in.
the god conference of the regular season perhaps.. but when it's tourney time.. you know who shows up. go big east!
I know we've moved on to Michigan, but let me just say, I don't think Florida State should make it. First off, it looks like they will finish 6-10 in the ACC. Not good enough. This would also put them on a four game slide going into the conference tournament. Secondly, their road record in the ACC is now 0-7. This is a downright disgraceful road record. Unlike Maryland, however, they do have some great ACC wins on their home court. If they could have beaten Duke that would have sealed them. If they can beat Georgia Tech on the road, that also might do it, but I don't think the outlook for that happening is that great, although Tech has lost games at home, so this is their chance. In summary, I don't think they can make the NCAA tournament without a quality ACC win not on their home court. Georgia Tech or a good ACC tournament win might do it, but my outlook now is no.
