You should try and go to a Barca or Madrid match if either of them are playing while you're in Spain (or Espanyol/Atletico Madrid). You may be there a week or two to early though. It seems to be pretty easy to pick up a last minute ticket to Barca. The sheer size of the stadium (100,000) is impressive. Actually, Barca and Madrid are playing two matches pretty soon for the Super Cup on August 14 & 17. Those tix are probably hard to come buy (unless you want to shell out a fair amount of money.

I saw Orix Buffaloes vs Hanshin Tigers a few years back. Something pretty hilarious about hearing Japanese girls chanting Garcia, Garcia. Or, rather Gah-Cee-A Gah-Cee-A. They had a full band, multiple mascots and some seriously dedicated fans. It was a blast. WAy more fun then the Padres game I went to a few weeks ago.

yeah, i checked there is a Real Madrid match on the 21st but that's the same day as the big weekly bullfight, which I wanted to check out. bad tickets were like 100 bucks each though through resellers online. i'll see how much they are if we can buy last minute.

Yeah, tickets aren't cheap. It's similar to the NFL in that there aren't that any home games a season, so they can charge a lot and still sell out. I think mine for Barca were 75 euros and that was for the 2nd row of the upper section. They ended up being pretty good seats. Not sure how it works for Madrid, but for Barcelona you buy tickets online through the bank. I had to make two separate purchases (bought 5 tix) and Bank of America thought my credit card was stolen. Apparently they don't get many charges for La Caixa.

Hike the entire 211 mile John Muir Trail over 2-3 weeks. I've done about half of it as part of other trips and absolutely love the Sierras. I've been accumulating the right ultra-light backpacking gear for this and hope to be able to carve out the time sometime in the next 5 summers or so. I put a couple photo albums together of some past Sierra trips that are in my personal profile if anyone wants to see some pix

An extended visit to Australia and New Zealand is on my list too... I'd love to bike NZ
