<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bucks general manager Larry Harris, coach Terry Porter and player personnel director Dave Babcock will be focused on identifying candidates for the team's second-round pick as the Chicago pre-draft camp officially gets under way with three games Wednesday at Moody Bible Institute. NBA scouts and coaches will gather in the Windy City this week to evaluate some college stars who are trying to improve their draft stock. Some will be trying to move up into the first round, while others are simply trying to secure a spot in the second and final round of the draft. "As much time as we've spent on the No. 1 pick, we've probably spent more time on the 36th because of that wide range of players that fall into that group," Harris said. "We really anticipate that 36th pick being a player that will be on our roster." The Bucks are well aware of the value of second-round draft choices. Shooting guard Michael Redd was their 43rd overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft, and starting center Dan Gadzuric was their 34th overall pick in the 2002 draft. Two other players who figure in the team's plans for next season - center Zaza Pachulia and point guard Mo Williams - were second-round picks in the 2003 draft by Orlando and Utah, respectively. The Bucks need only look at the contribution made by Chicago Bulls guard Chris Duhon as a rookie during the past season. Duhon, the former Duke University standout and 38th overall pick in the 2004 draft, helped the Bulls reach the playoffs. "We certainly do not want to go to sleep on that," Harris said of the second-round pick. "Hopefully we will get a guy who makes our roster and falls somewhere into the eighth or ninth man in our rotation."</div> Source
Allow me to just say this again: getting the #1 pick is SO AWESOME! I like where we are sitting now, as we'll get our stud big man in the first, and we can take a good look at the perimeter guys in the early second round. We need some guys who can defend in the backcourt/on the wing, and I think that with guys like Ewing, Basden and maybe even Julius Hodge, we'll be able to fill that need in the 2nd. Thanks for the update Shape
Yeah you guys are in a pretty good spot. You wish you had a Lebron or Iverson or Duncan sitting there for you but not this year. But you should still be able to get a good player. I would take Williams if I was a scout but that's me you guys will take Bogut. An Hodge would be a good pick at the top of the 2nd if he is still around for you guys.
I don't really know what the Bucks need, but they got Bogut and thats good enough, but if you can get another Redd type player or even a Ginolbli type player, Fear the Bucks!!!

I think we've got a bit of a poor man's Ginobili already, with Mason, as he's a tough perimeter defender, can get to the line, has an improving jump shot, and always can be counted on to give the team a shot in the arm. We need defense. I'll say it again: DEFENSE. The addition of Bogut is awesome, but we've got to put in the work on stopping other people in order be a team that the rest of the league fears
