"The entire organization made it clear how important Mo was to them and their future," Williams' agent, Mark Bartelstein said in a story posted Saturday on the Web site of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The breakthrough in negotiations came when the Bucks increased their original offer as Williams was being heavily courted by the Miami Heat. Williams will have a player opt-out clause after the fourth and fifth year of the deal, which has an average annual salary of $8.67 million.</div>

I don't like the contract much, but he'll probably opt out anyways. I guess I don't have a lot of faith in the team's brass right now.

That said, I'm glad that the Bucks did what was needed to keep Mo. If we lose him, we're back to square 1 after not securing any insurance at the PG spot via trade, draft or free agency. He's a pretty good fit for the Bucks, and he still does have the potential to get better. I want to see him show some type of defense this season.

Keeping Mo is a step forward for the team: now we've got the backcourt of the future locked up (Redd and Mo) and can focus on retooling on the wing and up front. We still have to get rid of Bobby Simmons and his ridiculous deal , but maybe we could package him along with Yi to get a tough veteran player. I just wish the Bucks wouldn't always take a step back whenever they inch forward (latest example: keep Mo, but totally f up the #6 draft pick).
