''The Bucks began their pursuit of Collins shortly after winning the top pick in the draft lottery [in May],'' one source said. "They wanted him as head coach. He said no. They offered to structure a new role as team president for him along with being head coach. He repeated that he didn't want to be a head coach.

"They remained hopeful and have been considering attempting to create some sort of new position where Doug would mentor their new head coach.''</div>

Doug Collins is a good man in terms of being a man who knows the game of basketball, but he does not know how to translate the game into coaching terms for younger players, and often thinks ahead of himself. I remember when he coached the Wizards and was talking about not only making the playoffs, but getting home court advantage as well then Wizards ended up not even making the playoffs. He is also been known to lose patience with his superstars, and young rookies. Is he really a good pick to coach Bogut into being a good big man in the league? I do not think so. He was a man whom Kwame Brown said ? Intimidated him? and also the guy who could not bring out Jordan?s full potential down in Chicago in his early seasons of his career.

Collins also failed horrible in his recent attempt in returning to coaching at the rookie all star game the last time he coached was that very game. Needless to say his team was blown out of the building. Doug has also gotten a reputation as a guy who blames everyone on the franchise for his or her failure barring himself. If this man learned to communicate better to his young stars and own up to his mistakes he would make a hell of a coach.

In the grand scheme of things is Doug Collins a man who will make Bogut all he can be in the National Basketball Association, and help us persuade Michael Redd that we are serious about winning? I think the answer for both those questions are no. They should probably look at targeting people such as Flip Saunders and Nate trying to pry Nate away from Seattle or possibly a job in Detroit if that opens will be hard.
