Win some...lose some...and so it has been since the dawn of recruiting time. 247 has him as a 60% UW commit. If true, it will be fun to watch him and Shaq play together - if UW projects him on D.
UW has about a two year window till we are going to have to start circling that game on the calendar again. Peterson can coach and he's a proven giant slayer! Best hire in college football for the offseason. Unfortunately the Fuskies got the rewards. Sark leaving was a huge score for UW!
There was a lot of talk about CP coming to Oregon after Chip left. His acceptance of the UW position does show he wasn't 100% BSU. Wonder what could have been with CP at the helm and that guy, that really nice guy as OC. Never know...
With the talent and resources Oregon could merge with Petersons coaching ability it could have been scary! I think that's why he had always considered Oregon if truly offered. He will have our type of foundation at UW now, and that makes me a trifle nervous a couple years out. Oregon must really believe in what Chip built here with our spread and style to pass on that kind of coach. In a few years we'll know if this was the right decision. I'd say I'm 60-40 that we made the right decision on letting Peterson slide by.
Interesting because when Chip took the job with the Eagles Boise St. thought he was gone to us. He was our receivers coach in the 80's and even coached at Portland State, so I thought the Duck job would have had great interest to him. He was quoted as saying the Cal and Oregon jobs were two he'd be interested in. No mention of UW. I think with the playoff system coming in next year and Boise St. always looking in through the window in a non BCS conference Peterson knew he needed to get to real conference in a hurry and UW fell into his lap.
