Puff piece. http://www.csnchicago.com/bulls/bul...-focus-opposing-defenses?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo With increased success comes increased attention, and Jimmy Butler is seeing the results of having his name higher up on the opposing teams’ scouting reports. The accomplishments and surprise has worn off, with the reality of Butler being an All-Star and leading scorer on a team with Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol finally setting in for everyone involved. He’s a marked man for defenses, as with all great scorers, his focus is more on the second defender than the one in his direct line of sight.
Interesting tidbit later on: I think this speaks to playing the guys you want to develop. Play them more. The more Snell has gotten time, the better he's been able to read defenses, etc. Why wouldn't that be true for Mirotic and even McMorrison?
I suspect that Thibodeau believes he's done everything right and doesn't need any help from us. He's almost certainly right. He sees the players practice for hours every week. We don't. He knows exactly what he wants players to do when he puts them on the court. We don't. Still, we're fans so we've gotta do what fans do.
Thibs contradicts himself tho. When players know they're going to touch the ball on almost every possession. That wasn't true for Snell earlier in the season. It looked like the plays were designed to keep him from getting touches. How can any of the players we want to groom learn the opportunistic ways to score without getting lots of touches IN GAMES, and I don't mean garbage time?
