WASHINGTON (AP) -- Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson reinjured his left knee Tuesday night in a loss to the Washington Wizards, another setback for a team struggling to put together a healthy roster for the playoffs.

Gibson said he was hurt while guarding Trevor Ariza in the second quarter of the 90-86 defeat and will have an MRI on Wednesday.

''I just did a basic rotation and tried to slide, and it just buckled on me,'' Gibson said. ''It was real painful. I tried to just play through it. I kind of got nicked up the last couple of games but kept playing.''

Gibson said the injury felt similar to the sprained MCL that caused him to miss 10 games recently. He returned on March 21 and is averaging 8.0 points on the season.

''Hopefully it's not worse than before,'' he said. ''But it was real painful. It's similar. But it depends on how it responds tomorrow.''

The Bulls are already short-handed, playing without Derrick Rose (left knee), Joakim Noah (right foot), Marco Belinelli (abdominal strain) and Richard Hamilton (lower back) in the homestretch of the regular season.

''It's definitely another big blow,'' teammate Kirk Hinrich said. ''But we've got to hang together and find some healthy bodies. They guys that are out there have got to step up more. We've been short-handed all year. It's nothing new to us.''

Damn shame. The guy's a warrior.

I admire the remaining players for staying with it, but it's gotten to "Black Knight" territory.

    Yes, it has.

The amazing thing is, when you are sure they're just going to collapse, they get back up and pull off a great win like against Miami and Indiana.

Who knows, but I won't bet against em.
