<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Shorten the regular season. The Bulls want to get off soon. Well, not exactly, but the Central Division cellar-dwellers wouldn't be particularly upset to finish with the worst record in the NBA. Such a scenario would leave the Bulls as the favorite to claim the first pick in the NBA draft and give them a clear shot at Connecticut power forward Emeka Okafor, the premier defender/shot blocker in the country. While scouts and coaches are careful not to tip their hands at this point, it's no secret the Bulls are among several teams that have targeted the 6-foot-9, 240-pound Okafor. He is expected to be drafted no later than the second pick. "I like the same guys everybody likes at the top of the draft," Bulls head coach Scott Skiles said. "Most coaches like the same kind of guys. They like talented guys who have toughness, work hard and respect the game. The trick is to get enough of those guys on your team."</div> Link
Well would it be more realistic if the bulls went for okafor if possible or if they went after luol deng to fill their SF spot? Can Okafor play center in the NBA?
the bulls already got Eddy Curry( a wasted pick IMO) and Tyson Chandler. If the can trade them or atleast one of them then their is a point to drafting Okafor.

I dont think Okafor, has the back to the basket game to be a center in the NBa. He blocks alot of shots but he wont get those when he matched up against NBA centers. I have a feeling he not going to be as good as everybody think is on the NBA level until he adds to his back to the basket game in the low post. And what ever team that drafts him must realize he is a power forward on the NBA level.
I also agree that they don't need another PF or C.They already have Eddy and Tyson. Drafting Okafor would make no sense because they are trying to develop both of them.If the Bulls would draft Okafor, they should trade away Eddy or Tyson but they don't have any intention of doing that. And like some people posted, they need a SF more than another PF.

You draft the Best Player Available. That means Okafor. Yes, if Chicago lands the #1 spot, they should draft Okafor. "But what about..." - Can it. I don't care. Do you realize how high Okafor's value is? You could trade him in a package and unload ERob to net you a good SF. Or you could package Chandler or Curry(probably Chandler) and Crawford via S&T for a good SF as well. That's why you draft Okafor. Because his draft value will be extremely high, and it will give Chicago multiple directions they can go with to address their need for a SF.

I feel Okafor's back problems might be an issue in the future(I hope not), but he has the highest value. You can always trade him for something you need, especially if Chandler comes out next year like he did at the beginning of this year.
I've followed the Bulls a little since they drafted Curry and Chandler, and I still don't see why all the Bulls fans have given up on them already. Curry still is a good center in this league right now, and he's underachieving. I think this guy will live up to his potential and be a 20+ and 9-10 rebound guy some time in the near future. Both of these guys are only 21, still have a lot of time ahead of him. I think Chandler will also be one of the best defenders in the league in a couple of years. If they did draft Okafor I would probably keep him instead of Chandler though. I like Tyson's potential alot and I think he still could be a possible star, but from what I hear Okafor is a sure thing so trading Tyson and a bad contract (Antonio Davis?) for a quality player isn't a bad idea either.
I heard the Bulls saying they will not take a highschool guy, and I understand that since they have Eddy and Chandler so yea I'm thinking if they can't get Okafor, they'll trade their pick instead of getting Dwight Howard. Curry can't rebound.
