<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A year ago, John Paxson and Scott Skiles traveled to Detroit on the first day of free agency, armed with salary-cap room and a plan to woo Ben Wallace from the rival Pistons. Don't expect the same treatment for, say, Chris Mihm.

For starters, the Bulls don't have salary-cap room to toss around millions during the free-agent recruiting period, which began Sunday at 12:01 a.m., although players can't officially sign contracts until July 11.

The Bulls will be using their midlevel salary-cap exception (approximately $5.5 million) and biannual veteran's exception (approximately $1.8 million) to kick the tires on the likes of Mihm, Melvin Ely, Joe Smith, Corliss Williamson, Marc Jackson and P.J. Brown.</div><div align="center">

paxons in a tough situation at the moment. the core of the team is tight and he does'nt want to break that up, but then again maybe bringing in one of the guys available for trades could get the bulls over the 'hump'. how do you guys feel about trading for jermaine o'neal? i know its a long shot of bird trading him in the same conference, hell the same division, but that gives the bulls a 20/10 guy, a legit scorer in the post and not to mention his lowpost D is pretty solid as well.

I thought about the O'Neal scenario a while ago, but like many people mentioned he is paid way to much. He is going to make over 20 million a year two of the final three years of his contract. I doubt the Bulls want to take on that much of a financial burden with guys like Deng (this summer), Gordon (this summer), Tyrus, Thabo, etc. scheduled to come up for extensions these next few years. Not to mention O'Neal ha shad a history of injury problems.

Yer I'm not high on JO, hes too expensive, too injury prone, I dont think he steps it up when the team needs. In addition I think hes becoming more of a jump shooter and is afraid of the physicalness of the post. So it doesn't seem like he is going to give us what we truly need.
