<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Free agent Malik Allen has agreed to terms of a multiyear contract with the Bulls, general manager John Paxson said Tuesday.

All summer Paxson has talked about "shoring up the front line," and Allen, 27, should do that. The 6-foot-10-inch power forward played 31/2 seasons with Miami before being traded to Charlotte last winter. He averaged 5.4 points per game last season.

Paxson is not done shopping. The Bulls are pursuing restricted free agent Darius Songaila of the Kings, agent Mark Bartelstein said Tuesday.

"They're very interested," Bartelstein said. "But it's complicated because he's a restricted free agent."

Nevertheless, the Bulls have a legitimate shot at acquiring the 6-8 power forward. It is believed the arrival of Shareef Abdur-Rahim in Sacramento signaled a departure for Songaila, 27, who averaged 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds last season.</div>

Wow the Bulls are gonna have an endless count of big bodies to throw around. And maybe insurance if Curry or Chandler fall thru. But the stronger we are in the middle the easier it will be for our guards. Its good to see that Pax is doing something to make chicago a better Team than they were last year.

    Go Bulls!

Signing Allen is a sound move, and he'll add some pretty good depth, but Songaila would be a much bigger addition. He'd be a good fit in Chi-town, and also allow them some wiggle room in case they can't retain the big guys.

Looks like they're stocking up in the front line. If Curry and Chandler end up returning, they would have Davis, Harrington, Allen and possibly Songaila ready to fill in. I'm hoping the Nets could land Songaila because he'll eventually start there and put up good numbers. In chi-town, he'll be competing with a few players for PT. None the less, it's a solid addition for the Bulls if they add him. Maybe he's a backup plan if one of Chandler/Curry don't re-sign.

Paxson seems set still to be matching whatever contracts Chandler/Curry get, so they'll be around for certain, at least for one more year. Signing Allen gives the Bulls a hardworking rebounder and post defender. He would be great insurance if both Curry and Chandler are troubled by injuries/illness again.

Isn't Othella Harrington a free agent? If so, what's the Bulls' stance on re-signing him?

Re-signed. He signed a one year deal earlier in the week.

The bulls signed Othella already, even thought it happened a few days ago they announced it today. And my bro just told me on ESPN Radio that they said the Bulls signed Allen, what i can remember from when the heat played the Bulls he has a pretty nice jumper. And On ESPN.com It has a pic of Songailia and it says the bulls are stockin up on large bodies and they're not done, but i dont have Insider so I cant read the Rumor Central. But nice signing/s if they can also get Songailia, because he put up nice numbers in Sac-Town.

Malik Allen is a good addition to the Baby Bulls. His inconsistency is the only thing that worries me about him, but overal this is a good move by the Bulls getting Malik.

This is a great move by the Bulls. If Curry and chandler resign we are going to be loaded with big men.

I think that they are trying to prevent the same mishap from last year. When Curry went down it really stretched out the bench. We demanded too much from harrington and davis (although they played their hearts out).

All of our guards are coming back stronger than last year. Some people on this board are making playoff standings with the bulls not included. They made it there without Curry and Deng. Now that they are back and Noch, Ben and Kirk are stronger than ever chicago will be dangerous. Some guy put the bucks ahead of chicago at 8 and that kind of hurt me. Im glad that people are sleeping and I hope other teams are sleeping also.

    Go Bulls!

I totally agree. The Bulls made it last year without Deng or Curry and took the Wizards to 6 games with out them too. People underestimate how much Curry ment to this team.If they are both back next year with Chandler and the addition of Allen and maybe Songaila. And all are young player with an extra year of experience under their belt I think their is no question the Bulls will make the playoffs if no major injuries occur. I also expect them to make it past the second round.

Good to see the Bulls adding some depth to that frontline. The lack of it in the postseason really hurt them last year, so it's quite noticeable that Pax took account to that and isn't going to let that happen again. Malik Allen should be great as an insurance policy in case something happens to either Curry or Chandler, assuming they both return. He gives them depth at the 4 and 5 and will make life easier on not just Curry and Chandler, but the aging Othella Harrington and AD, giving each of them time to rest and allowing them to play less minutes, keeping them fresh for longer. Also, getting Songaila would just be an added bonus. It gives them a guy that can really play either the 3 or 4 because of his range. He gives them an excellent mid range shooter and a pretty good hustle player. If the Bulls do manage to get him and bring back Curry and Chandler as they're expected to do, I'd look for the Bulls to be even better next year, and for that bench of theirs to be better then it was this past season as well.

The Bulls are expected to offer a contract to Songaila soon.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chicago Tribune - The Bulls' pursuit of restricted free agent Darius Songaila continues, and it hardly will be a surprise if the 6-foot-8-inch power forward gets an offer soon from general manager John Paxson.

Songaila visited Paxson at the Berto Center on Wednesday, but several teams remain interested in the Lithuanian who averaged 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds last season for Sacramento.

The Kings are unlikely to match an offer.</div>

I liked this signing Allen he is a good role player, and Skiles is a coach who is known to bring the best out of the role players on the team. I think bringing him in will add some depth to our bench, and will give us some versatility instead of just having Antonio Davis, and Othella Harrington backing up Chandler and Curry. Davis? contract expires at the end of the season so if he does not resign we have another option.

Songalia would be a GREAT fit...hes a nice rebounder and has a very nice jump shot for a big man...he'd add a nice complementary scorer next to Gordon off the bench...him and Chandler could be a devestating 1-2 PF punch...
