When the Dems don't renew them, and those of us making over $42k but less than $250k have our taxes raised...isn't this a tax raise on us? Help me out here.
No, and you know it's not. As your thread title points out, you got your taxes CUT, LOWERED, some might say SLASHED. It's time for you to be a man and pony up your fair share for this great country that made it possible for you to make more than so many others in the world. If you don't like it, move to another country.
So you agree, my taxes will be raised by the inaction of the Democrats to renew the Bush cuts, and Obama is yet again lying.
You obviously have reading comprehension problems. Have no fear. President Obama will improve our schools, and give you the opportunity to improve your skills. Then you'll be able to keep up with the rest of us.
If you're not happy, there is a solution: Run for public office. Stop complaining that things aren't done (so you speculate) the way you want them to. In this country, any citizen can become a part of the decision-making process, which is one of the great things about it. Maybe most of your potential constituency agrees with you, you can be elected, and you can do something about it. That is what drove people like Obama originally. Good luck!
some people think that education is more important than military. some people think that helping the unfortunate is more important than helping the rich. they are stupid, and you are smart?
Why did Bush design the tax cuts to expire when they did? I mean, if they are such a great idea, why didn't he and the Republican congress that passed them make them permanent? The answer, of course, is that the budget numbers got ridiculously bad if you extend the cuts out for decades, and even the Republicans didn't have the balls to face that fight with the American people. Republicans hoped that they'd still be in power right about now, and they could kick the can a little farther down the road. A generous guess would put the percentage of Americans who really want to see all of those cuts extended at about 30%. There just isn't much of a constituency for them, because we all remember the hype of the big tax cut, but we also remember how little of it actually went to the average voter. A lot more Americans want to see greater middle class tax cuts, which is one reason it's pretty hard for Republicans to make any tar stick to Obama's plan, and why the expiring of the Bush tax cuts has been a complete non-issue in this election. Sure it's progressive and unfair to the wealthy and anti-Reaganomics. But it's also what most people want.
its really quite simple. republican tax cuts benifit the top 10 percent of americans at best. you cant win an election with 10% of the vote, unless you pour MILLIONS of dollars into advertising saying that you believe in FREEDOM, and GOD.
I already pay a shitload in taxes, and I don't make over $250k. Where is my money going, and why can't I just give it away to charities that will directly benefit from my contribution? Seems like there is a reason my substanstantial charitable contributions are tax-deductible, eh?
