To no great surprise, International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (29-0, 24 KO’s) made easy work of number #1 ranked contender Jean-Paul Mendy (29-1-1, 16 KO’s) on Saturday night, stopping the badly over-matched 37-year-old Mendy in the 4th round at the Romexpo in Bucharest, Romania. Bute flattened Mendy with a big left hand that left Mendy face down on the canvas badly hurt. The fight was halted at that point at 2:48 of the round.
