Pierce has just declared that Butler is slower than last year and that he isn't as good, but Caron is showing the whole league that he is back to business. Wade - Jones - Butler - Odom - Grant + Alston, that's a good team, but adding another frontcourt player such as the free-agents to be le Stromile Swift, Erick Dampier, Adonal Foyle, Etan Thomas or Marcus Camby will be switch this team into a great one, especially in the East.
Gotta love your posts Dom, you post about such awesome teams, players and topics. I'm glad someone else likes Butler, sure he's not doing well offensively but he's like the best defensive rookie. Man can that man defend, he's still fast enough to keep up with other players and defend them and is much better at stealing now then the former great stealer of the Heat. Everyone knows who I'm talking about. I think Alston should improve his shot, all he has is handling and passing skills. Almost anyone has that to begin with anyway. He's not starting material in my eyes. He really needs to earn his place there. As for who would go there, I'm not too sure as I'm not familiar with the Heat roster nor whom they could and should get.
"I'm glad someone else likes Butler, sure he's not doing well offensively but he's like the best defensive rookie" Butler is sophomore.

He has consistently made multiple 3-pointers in 16 straight games, the ONLY other player in the NBA that has done this this season is Ray Allen. He also ranks 15th in the league in 3-point FG's made shooting .346 from beyond the arc and .359 from the field. Every player in the NBA needs to work on their shots, but Skip is right up there and can hang with the best. You also stated "all he has is passing and handling skills." I guess that's why he ranks 8th in the NBA in assists per turnovers, right? You also said almost everyone has handling and passing skills anyways! You have GOT to be joking, there are only a very small handful of players in the NBA that are capable of handling the ball like him. Over a 3 game period about a week or two ago when the Heat faced the Knicks, Nets, and the Rockets one right after the other, Skip started in each of those games and completely DOMINATED some of the best PG's in the NBA; Steve Francis, Starbury, and Jason Kidd. In that brutal 3 game period, Skip was a monster on defense and held Starbury, Kidd, and Franchise to a combined 8 of 39 from the field. He really needs to earn his place on the Heat? Man, i'm sorry but you don't know what you're talking about. He has consistently hit clutch shots and game winning shots for the Heat, he far surpassed any expectations that anyone had for him and he proved himself worthy of a starting position in the NBA. Also, this is Caron Butler's second year in the NBA, he was a rookie last season. Now I really don't mean to be rude and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but i've seen you making a lot of posts on topics and saying things that are not true at all and just completely off the wall. You really should not comment on something if you don't know the facts. I'd really like to know how you are forming your opinions, because it's obvious that you don't watch or follow the Heat from your posts about Heat players and the team as a whole.
Yeah, Alston has made himself into a legit sixth man on the Miami Heat's team. Caron Butler is "back," but he's not the offensive powerhouse he was a year ago. However, he's still good on defense and he's still scoring a decent amount. And wow. My, oh my, that was a nice owning.
Of course i'm biased, but I would have to say that Skip is a good candidate for the MIP award this year.
well, michael redd is going to run away with that one. but skip has improved tremendously. he steps up, he's got energy, makes good decisions, his turnovers are WAY down... all good stuff. one thing though, and not to take away from him, but he does need to improve his shooting. he's not horrible, but there's room for improvement. i find it maddening when he clangs his shots off the front of the rim. that's the first thing shooting coaches tell you to do, aim for the back. if he could work his shooting up a notch, he'll be better than many starting pgs in the east.
You can say that about pretty much everyone but Peja, Ray, and Redd, really. And I think his turnovers are down because he's not doing streetball anymore.
I came in here expecting a thread about Butler, but find its about Skip O well, I'll go with the flow...SKip has really developed his outside shot...You really can't say Skip is a bad shooter anymore...But he definietly needs to improve his mid-range and his finishing around the basket...I would venture to say that over half of Skip's shots are from beyond the arc...for the upcoming offseason, he should bulk up some in order to improve his finishing ability. His thin stature is probably the problem right now...
