finally joey harrington is gone from the Lions, who will take him?... hopefully not the Jets. Hopefully the Bills. Looks like Kitna will be the starter</div>
Bills signed Packers 3rd stringer Craig Nall.

Philly released QB's Mike McMahon & Andy Hall

I would prefer McMahon over Harrington & Tommy Maddox (who is visiting the 'phins) in Miami to backup Daunte.

    Stat eulogy for Joey

Wondering if Joey was the worst of all time? I thought he might be the all-time worst in something so I looked up some stats. Here are my findings....

    Worst Yards Per Attempt

Of QB's with at least 1500 career attempts, Joey's 5.7 is in fact the NFL's all-time worst.

If you lower the threshold to 1000 total career attempts, Joey rises to 3rd from the bottom out of 183 or so total qualified QB's in NFL history. Bobby Douglas is then alltime worst. But he was a "running" QB.

Item of interest: Mike McMahon's career YPA is lower than Joey at 5.6, although he has less than 1000 career attempts.

Both bums are looking for suckers to bring them in cheap.

    Look it up

Aren't these the same Lion fans that were thinking Joey was in for a breakout year last year... hahaha..

Seriously the Lions finally made the right move in getting rid of him. Though I'm not sure if John Kitna and Josh McCowan are your saviors..

I think the 49ers might pick him up to backup Alex Smith. Also after the draft the cardinals might make a move on him if they dont draft Cutler.

I have a feeling Joey would feel right at home in San Francisco. They called him "Princess" at Oregon.

Harrington gets pimped out of $50,000
When you're talking about a total of $8.5 million in salary and bonuses for one season, $50,000 might not seem like a lot of money. Until you realize that it might be helpful in making a mortgage payment or two.

Not that it matters because Joey Harrington isn't going to see any of it.

Not only will Harrington not get his bonuses and salary in 2006 from the Lions, but his workout bonus of $50,000 will be forfeited. Harrington's contract calls for the extra bonus if he attends 80 percent of the team's 14 weeks of off-season workouts (which began Monday).

Now, it would seem that since the Lions are telling Harrington not to attend, they would be on the hook for the money. But there's no way Harrington will be on the roster after June 1 so there's no way he can reach the 80 percent anyway so there's no issue.

By the way, the Lions paid Harrington a total of about $25 million over his four years in Detroit. That's an average of $1.4 million per victory (Harrington was 18-37 as a starter overall).

Not that it means much, but the Colts and Patriots' starting quarterbacks were paid roughly $1 million per victory last season. Then again, the Lions can be glad they're not the Falcons. Atlanta's Michael Vick earned $1.63 million for each of his eight victories last year.

Chiefs targeting Harrington?<Mar. 23> According to The Detroit News, trade talks involving Harrington should heat up at the NFL's annual league meetings, which begin on Sunday. The Chiefs and Lions have already had preliminary talks regarding Harrington, but the teams are not believed to be close to consummating a deal for the 26-year-old quarterback.

"I liked Joey Harrington coming out of college exceedingly well. We had a very, very good grade on him. But that was four years ago," Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson told the Kansas City Star. "We've got to evaluate also what he's done in his time in the NFL and why he's done it and what are the extenuating circumstances.

"So we're evaluating that situation. Right now, I'm planning on Trent Green [the starter] for the next couple of years at least. We've signed a veteran backup in Damon Huard and also signed an exceedingly talented young quarterback in Casey Printers."

The Lions have said they do not plan to have Harrington back. Harrington is owed a $4 million roster bonus June 15, and his base salary for 2006 is $4.45 million. Other teams thought to be interested include Oakland, Minnesota and Miami

    Conflicting views on Harrington
ORLANDO -- After talking to several people here at the owners' meeting, there are several conflicting ideas on what's going to happen to Joey Harrington.

Some believe that Harrington won't be traded because everybody knows he's going to get cut. They bring up the Terrell Owens example, saying if a team wasn't going to give up even a low-round pick for him, why would they do it for Harrington?

There's also the belief that because Harrington wants to play in Seattle, where the Seahawks have an opening for him, that Harrington will simply refuse to renegotiate with anybody else, securing his release in June and then the Seahawks can sign him.

Others, though, believe that once Harrington starts visiting with teams and working out, that interest in him will grow considerably and teams won't want to wait for June. If some teams, like the Chiefs, might offer him the kind of financial package (even as a backup) that he can't turn down -- even for Seattle. And then the Chiefs would be willing to give Detroit a significant draft pick to swing the deal.

Best line of the day: From a national writer who categorized Detroit's attempt to trade Harrington: "Something for Joey.''</div>

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE ("Tom Kowalski)</div><div class='quotemain'>Why a Harrington deal could happen
ORLANDO -- While there continues to be some sentiment that teams will simply wait until Joey Harrington gets cut because they don't want to give up a draft choice, there's an interesting buzz at the owners' meetings.

While most people in Detroit look at Harrington as the guy who couldn't succeed in four years with the Lions, a lot of people around the league look at him entirely differently. They view Harrington as the guy who was the third overall pick in the draft and a guy they really liked coming out of college.

That's why it's interesting to hear coaches and general managers talk about investigating and researching "what happened in Detroit.''' It's clear that some teams simply view's Harrington's reign with the Lions as "wrong time, wrong place.''

Remember, all it takes is for one team to take the bait. At the moment, that would seem to be the Chiefs, but Seattle's still in the hunt. The question is whether Harrington even wants to go to Kansas City. Harrington is expected to tell Matt Millen which teams he wants to go to and then Harrington will likely begin visiting those teams next week.</div>
