Had a discussion with a few friends about Marshall and what he brings to the table. After doing some research, I was blown away that he is potentially quicker and faster than Barner, while pushing 210#'s!

Check out these results from Marshall's HS career. I believe Barner ran a 4.39 at Pro Day, so in some venues, Marshall is actually faster and quicker:

    40 yd: 4.38 (Hand time)
60M: 6.86 (Electronic Time) - 3rd Place at National Indoor Championships
    100M: 10.67 (Electronic Time) - #1 Sophomore in California
Long Jump: 23'4" - #1 Sophomore in California

in his class rivals had him as the top rated back on the West Coast. Size speed & gawdy stats were probably the main reasons. He's a talent

Ever get tired of tasting foot? You do it so well. Maybe someday, you'll come to realize that you only really make yourself look foolish in front of those you try so hard to be 'wise' for.

Someone is an emotional wreck. I'm here for you, buddy. This is a safe place, in what must be a very dark and troubling world to you.

Barner clocked the time you mentioned at official combine, then returned on Thur to the Pro Day and hit the 4.39 mark.

    3/14/13 results: 4.39

Barner was clocked as fast as 4.38-seconds in the 40-yard dash according to a high-ranking scout present at Thursday's workout. He was similarly impressive in the three-cone, going from 4.20-seconds in the drill in Indianapolis to 4.10 in Eugene, according to the scout. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

I don't think the body of work for Marshall has been great enough for any fan to have a strong opinion of him either way. Luckily this year we'll get a real look at what he can do. My gut tells me he'll be a very strong 5-8 yard a down back and one rival teams LB's and secondary will get very tired of hitting by 3rd quarter. He may not have Tyner or DAT speed but I really don't think that's what we need from him. He's the constant big body blow before the knockout speed takes our opponents out. Marshall seems like an SEC type of RB to me. Grind you down and then our speed kills. I see the same physicality with Benoit, and Royce coming in. Good between the tackles impose their will type of backs. I would further say these guys fill a body type the Ducks haven't had since Blount. If Marshall is effective with this role it will open the field up huge for Mariota to be a complete field general.

marshall just looks a little slower, but when you are comparing him to guys like DAT its really not fair. DAT isnt a between the tackles guy and they need someone to keep the lbs in the middle of the field, i think its a pretty great combo actually. and tyner. damn cup runneth over

not to mention seastrunk, who is some sort of media darling all of the sudden, but wasnt even worth the trouble here

Agreed. I took a year and a half off form this forum and decided to come back and post a great video right before opening week. Ten minutes later, PapaG had reposted and brought up about six posts from the past. So, I played along...

Oddly, last I left, I sent him an apology. That was about 18 months ago. I told him I was wrong and was moving on. Did you hear that...I was wrong.

I'm perfectly content to move on. Let's see if the other party is able.
    I'm all about the Ducks.

Bygones are bygones. Welcome back, Targus. My daughter is doing fine and playing midfield for our 5th grade soccer team in Tualatin. My youngest, who has had some odd test results too, is playing forward for her 3rd grade team and scoring goals.

Happy dance for your daughter! My daughter is also in the 5th grade and is nearly recovered. It's been a long road but hardly any lingering issues. We're actually gearing up for a daddy/daughter SCUBA lesson to get our open water dive cert. :) Go Ducks!

The Beavs are going to be very good this year. I'm rather surprised that they aren't getting more respect from the guys at espn/si/foxsports. I think they're right there with the Ducks and Stanford. It's going to be interesting.

I think OS is a solid #3 in the North, and that UW is getting way too much love, especially when you look at the preseason polls. OS is #25, and sure, the Ducks will clobber them again this year, but other than that, 10-2 is a real possibility with their schedule.

On the other hand, saying OS is "right there" with Oregon and Stanford is an absolute reach. Could they be? Maybe, but OS hasn't been to a BCS game in what, 14 years now?

I think OSU has 10 winnable games this year and upset Stanford on homecoming night at Resers. It also helps that USC is a home game for them too... They might even get within 14 points of us this year, although I doubt it!

Tlong, I know I blew your mind when I accurately predicted the 3 win season. I'm about to do the same again...

OSU only loses three games this year...Stanford, ASU and Oregon.

...then, OSU gets demolished by 71 points by TCU in the Holiday Bowl. Mike Riley said, "Golly Gee," and takes Lunchbox U for burgers and no sheep are harmed.

He's looked average to me so far. I don't recall him making any big plays like Barner or James.

That may have a ton more to do with play calling to work the clock than letting this kid show what he can do. Marshall came in usually when the clock needed to be managed as to not embarrass our opponents. My take!
