Byron Scott wants you to know that it's not personal.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Remember when the Nets coach tagged Boston as a racist city that made black athletes feel uncomfortable?

That was apparently gamesmanship. Scott, in town to watch his team's entry play the Celtics in a Reebook Pro Summer League finale at UMass-Boston yesterday, said he was merely trying to take the pressure off his players by making those comments on the eve of New Jersey's sweep of the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals.</div>

I absolutely hate Scott and this makes me hate him even more. To make himself look like less of an idiot he comes out and says he didn't mean any of it and Boston is a great city.

i never really liked scott, but he can't just take back the things he said like that. there are other ways of taking pressure off of his team besides insulting the city that their opponents play in

yea.. it obviously didnt help either. the nets had to go to double overtime finish off the sweep. if scott had just told them to play their game the probably couldve won in regulation. Scott is a good coach but he was a mediocre player and a mediocre man. sometimes it looks like jason kidd is the real coach of the nets

[IMG] i read the article and it sounds like scott didnt even know that boston had some shady race relations in its past. he was just talking out his butt. he didnt even know. he also said boston is one of the greateset cities to play in with some of the most knowlegdable fans. hes right but thats the polar opposite of what he was saying last month

I can agree wit you on that one but then I can't because before there was Scott the Nets literally sucked. I understand that Scott does do and say some stupid things but as a coach I think he has played his part greatly. I can remember clearly what the Nets were like before Scott came and they were in no state to even make the playoffs... you do have a point but Scott really turned the Nets inot what they are.

Ending this...that was messed up for Byron to say...but...^

But before Kidd arrived in New jersey the Nets were still one of the worst teams in the East. The year befre Kidd when Byron coached his first season the Nets had the 6th pick in the draft and traded it for Jefferson and Collins

that was my point. the nets were terrible before JASON KIDD arrived. he was the one who turned them arounds not byron scott even if he is a good coach. Jason Kidd is the leader. hes the one who made them a running team.
