That was an intense and exciting game! Carmelo came in and made this game serious - he missed a couple there at the end, but his play was fantastic tonight!
He played very well tonight. I think he does pretty well against Paul Milsap. That is a good matchup for him.
He gave a post game interview with Brooke and didn't say anything about an injury and was talking about bringing it in the upcoming games, so I don't think there's anything to it.
That was the absolute most perfect basketball I've seen Melo play since joining the team. He made every right pass and was quick and decisive with his shot selection. Everything was pass or shoot. Pop pop pop. No dominating the ball. Just solid screens and quick decisions. THAT version of Melo can play on my Blazers as long as he wants. We have so many guys who are talented on offense that unless he has a huge mismatch the ball should just keep moving if he's not open. Let Dame, CJ, Norm and Nurk control the ball, because when they have it the defense can't overload like they do with Melo. It's a massive change in mindset to the style of play that made him a top 10 all time scorer. Still, if he can do it once, he can do it again. I hope this thread doesn't get merged, because that old thread is for the old Melo. This is all about New Melo. Long may it last.
