Veteran hockey executive Brian Burke was named the team’s president of hockey operations, a position the Flames created for him in an effort to return to the playoffs after a four-year absence. Burke will “assume overall responsibility of the sport side of the Calgary Flames.” General manager Jay Feaster will report to Burke while Ken King remains president and CEO of the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation.
