Governor Meg Whitman. Get used to saying it! http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-gavin-newsom-campaign,0,3658918.story
I like Jerry Brown. I once voted for Harry Browne, thinking it was Jerry Brown. No I didn't. I did vote for Harry Browne, though.
Not me, but I did for a few years, in the 70s and again in the 90s. So, I'm like, hep with the California jive, you dig? barfo
I read the article, I saw a young mayor of San Francisco with Pat Riley hair greased back except for stylish curl coifed over the forehead, then I read the posts. "Governor Meg Whitman" is not mentioned in the article. Schwartz hasn't run out of 8 years yet, has he? A woman is the frontrunner, apparently? I've never heard of her. "Whose aura smiles and never frowns? Hint: it aint Meg Whitman." So Whitman is umbrellaed by an aura with a smile from horizon to horizon like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? "he's like 120 years old." Whitman is an ugly old man named Meg? Who looks like Reagan? Oh you mean McCain. I don't think of these recent newbies. I was thinking of Everett Dirksen from the 60s. And who is Harry Browne? So you see why I'm thinking, this is California jargon, and these posters must live there and I'm intruding in a koffeeklatch about local politics. I lived there 3 times, total almost 14 years, but it's Greek to me now.
Then surely you've heard of Jerry Brown? Previous two-term governor, ran for president a couple of times, currently CA Attorney General? He's running for governor again, even though he's now pretty old. California! Uber Alles! Jer-ry! As is former Ebay CEO Meg Whitman, on the republican side. I'm not sure how the Pat Riley mayor gets called a hippie, he sure doesn't look like one to me. barfo
I guess you're saying he made up Harry Browne. I thought maybe Harry was a real candidate of the past. Jerry Brown was after my time, but I read about him after I moved out of there. I'm more familiar with his father. Good man. I watched Reagan beat him, then get inaugurated at midnight, 20 years later was disclosed by Don Regan to be due to astrology. The institution of marriage is the biggest instigator of conservatism. The powers-that-be are pushing marriage onto gays in order to conservatize them. Imagine a world without marriage for heterosexuals. It would be quite a wild and radical place, and that's the current condition that gays live in. The powers are trying to change that. Quite often, a liberal movement is a disguised conservative movement.
Jerry Brown was governor of California way back. Nicknamed governor moonbeam. Pretty famous for his girlfriend, Linda Ronstadt. Later became mayor of Oakland and did a pretty good job there. Now atty. general. Not sure if he actually can run again, but appears so. And I do like him. Harry Browne was the Libertarian candidate for president 2 times in a row. I did vote for him both times.
Why hasn't Willie Brown ever run for Governor, or has he before? He owned the California State Legislature for years.
Yes, the first paragraph is well know nationwide, due to Jerry Brown being on the national media a lot back then, with insinuations about his never having married. Harry Browne, I hadn't heard of. As for Willie Brown, his predecessor Jesse Unruh made a good run for Governor. Unruh once stood outside his opponent's house (was it Norton someone?) and told the media how rich the guy was. Inside, the guy and his wife were fuming and told the media that they had earned every penny.
