The opening is sure to attract a bevy of A-list candidates, but Calipari said he won’t be among them. After Saturday’s game, he said he has “no interest” in leaving Memphis for any other job.

(The Bracket assumes that would include the current opening at Oklahoma Wesleyan, a tradition-rich N.A.I.A. program.)

Following last season, Calipari visited North Carolina State, but decided to remain with Tigers for a reported $1.7 million annually.

“We’ve got a good thing going here,” Calipari said.

That “good thing” is called returning his starting five next season and all but three players from a team that finished 33-4 this season.

Memphis’ significant loss is the senior guard Jeremy Hunt, who scored a game-high 26 points in Saturday’s loss. He averaged 13.7 points this season and was the team’s second-leading scorer this season.

“Truth be told, there are probably better jobs than Memphis,” Calipari said. “But there may not be a better team than the one I’m going to have for the next couple of years. You don’t leave that.”

Only reason Calipari wouldn't go to UK is because they wouldn't allow him to put together a team full of thugs that have no business being in college.

Bingo. Was just going to add that only Memphis, Oklahoma State, or maybe even Cincinnati or Kansas State are the only teams that would allow Calipari to field a team of thugs that he has had down in Memphis. As soon as you hear players in trouble with school or the law (ala JamesOn Curry; Bill Walker, etc.), it always seems those clubs are knocking on the players' door.

Why does everyone hate JamesOn Curry so much? He's somewhat cleaned up his act and isn't a problem anymore. He got a 2nd chance and took advantage of it, there's nothing wrong with that. Oklahoma St. might have players with bad backgrounds but they clean up their attitude once they're there. I disagree of your view on OK St.

I'm relieved to hear this. It wasn't Calipari's coaching that bothered me, it's just that his teams spend more time in the Hall of Justice than they do on the basketball court...
