But Gilbert's ache to build a playoff team in Cleveland won't have him turning Memphis blue. </div>

It's starting to sound like the Capital 1 card commercial in Cleveland. No, Niet, Nope, Nah

I guess there's no harm in asking, but Gilbert might do better to focus his energies on someone more receptive to doing the job. He's just kind of wasting some energy in this crazy quest, and there are candidates just as good qualifications, though lesser track records, available.

When I saw this article, I figured he offered Jerry West a job and John Calipari just bribed the writer to throw his name in there too, just to let people know he's still out there. He actually does have a history of coming out and saying he's not taking certain jobs even when they're not offered to him. For example, when the Kansas job was vacant, there was a big article in the paper about how Calipari wanted to stay a Memphis Tiger and would not take the Kansas job. About a day or two later, it was written that Calipari was never even offered the job. Honestly, who wants a guy whose only strength as a coach is his recruiting? How will that help you in the NBA? We all saw how miserably he failed in the NBA with the Nets. Perhaps they just offered him an assistant coaching job, and he blew it up.
