David Thorpe said if you could re-do this draft Drummond would go #1 over Davis. As of today he has the highest PER for a teen in NBA history. 7.3 PPG | 7.5 RPG | 1.7 BPG | 59 FG% | 19.7 MPG 13.3 PPG | 13.7 RPG | 3.1 BPG | 1.7 SPG | PER36 22.3 PER | 96 DRtg | 4.0 WS | 19 years old And Rice said: *Wouldn't take him even with a late 1st *Visibly ill when his name was brought up during pre-draft workouts. *"No way, NO WAY" rant on twitter re: Drummond.
YouTube videos are a joke and no way to evaluate a player. Made one for Przybilla once, he looked like a white Shaq!
Fez, I'll show Rice this thread when we get dinner. I'm sure he'll make up something like he was just joking.
Maybe Rice was a little overzealous, but I know Drummond scared the hell out of me after his workout and listening to the guy talk.
IIRC Haynes/Jaynes reported during the draft that they had Leonard rated ahead of Drummond. I like Leonard but come on! Really is a perfect example of the Blazer scouts.
Nice hindsight analysis on Drummond. I think the jury is still out on if he will be a great starting quality center. His numbers in H.S. and college looked terrible. His rebounding and scoring went down each year he got older and faced better competition--even though he was much bigger than anyone on the court. If it was just a matter of him getting motivated and getting his head on strait then I'm happy for him. But, I still think he is a head case with motivation issues. Only time will tell if he finally figured out how to motivate himself.
Drummond isn't the brightest chem-lite in the box, is that right? Being far from the brightest chem-lite in here, I'm understandably having trouble remembering stuff...
You realize if we would have drafted Drummond, no one would be talking about his stats, because he'd be on his second surgery right now. Let it go. We're never going to have a franchise center.
Oh, I totally agree. Whenever discussing college players/draft I put it out there that I don't watch NCAA hoops, so I have very little to base my draft wishes off of - youtube and whatever the media writes. I take youtube with a HUGE grain of salt, and think it's nearly useless when it comes to evaluating guards/wings. I'm just saying that of all the videos I watched I was most impressed with what I saw in Drummond's videos.
