After a great season of 25pts a game. can amare get that recognition of becoming MVP, or is Nash preventing it.
Most people consider that pace contributes to higher scoring averages of the Suns players. They simply run a lot and shoot a lot more than most teams (if not all). Amare clearly is a stud, but he's going to have a tough time of it with Kobe, KG, Dwight Howard, and Chris Paul competing for the award. It was hard not to give the award to Nash, and maybe he deserved it again last season. With Nash, the Suns are a 50+ win team and fantastic offensively. Without him, they look like they don't know what to do on the court. By definition, that makes him THE most valuable player in the league, IMO.
Ye thats what i like with nash, he runs the floor (maybe he the best at it in the league) as that is his 1st priority then pass, then shoot. But Amare has a great future, but he competition from Paul and Howard in the future, which makes it very interesting.
Can he win one? it's possible. However right now I think Dwight is better than him. Dwight is a better at crashing offensive boards, and a better defensive rebounder, a better shot blocker, is a stronger post defender. I also think Dwight has more potential to improve if he can develop some nice hook shots and continue to improve footwork and positioning.
Howard only has the "Dunking" move, the guy cant shoot compared to Stoudemire. that why he wont win it at least he gets a improves he jumper.
I believe Nash is the best player on the team still proven by the Suns still winning 54 games the year amare was out... 8 less than the year before even though Joe Johnson and Q-Rich were gone and Amare only played 3 games. For Amare to reach MVP consideration, he has to do more than score. Sure he's a better scorer than say Howard, but he's not 1/2 the defender.. in fact he's pathetic at it considering his size, speed and jumping ability. He also has to suprass 10 rpg.. something he's never done even though the Suns put up a lot more shots because of the fast pace of their game. Sure Marion was there, but he was/is capable of getting more boards. It comes down to desire and hard work. Amare could win an MVP, but Lebron, CP3, Howard, Kobe and perhaps eventually Oden and Durant in the mix, it's not going to be a given.
He's one of the most athletic players in the league. (top 5 IMO) If he was to attack the basket even more, and start to play some defense, you would see his name mentioned for the MVP award every single year.

When Shaq was younger, you wouldn`t want him pulling out of the paint to take deep 2 point shots much, (although you would want him to make FTs), you`d prefer him downlow with 2 guys on him to stop him from grabbing boards. I think if it was Amare pre-knee injury form then he would have an even better shot at it. Especially with the added jumper. I think he would have had some 30 ppg seasons, and it might be possible even with post-knee surgery Amare. Just because team record has so much to do with winning MVP and as Nash ages, Amare is clearly the number 1 guy for Phoenix.
Could he get an MVP in the next 2-3 years? Nope. After that? Maybe. Will he deserve it? Nope. He'll forever be a secondary superstar because he's dumb as a rock on defense. But then again, if a horrible defensive player like Camby can win DPOY several times, there is a hope for Amare.
