For the first time since the 1997-98 season, Breeders Cup betting enthusiasts may be able to witness a team winning consecutive Super Bowl Championships. The Green Bay Packers, winners of Super Bowl 45, appear destined to win Super Bowl 46, as they have been price per head dominant through the first eight weeks of the season. Sitting at seven wins and no losses through eight weeks (this week was a bye), the Packers have the potential to go undefeated this season. However, in the NFL, as many bookie software agents find out quickly, anyone can beat anyone. Today we wonder can anyone defeat the defending Super Bowl Champions.

Green Bay is sitting atop the NFC North standings entering week nine of the regular season. This coming weekend, the Packers will take on the San Diego Chargers. If anyone can defeat the Packers, technically it should be the Chargers. Yet, with that being said, consider that the Packers have three factors favoring them entering week nine. Firstly, Green Bay is coming off a bye week, which means that any injuries they may have had, should be healed by now. Secondly, San Diego will be playing on short rest, as they play the Monday Night game tonight, and then they play Sunday. Depending on how grueling tonight’s game is for them, the Chargers may be exhausted heading into Sunday. Finally, Philip Rivers has been dreadful this season, throwing only seven touchdowns to nine interceptions. If Rivers continues to struggle, the Chargers may be forced to use backup Billy Volek against the defending Champions. Thus, Green Bay should move to eight wins as your NFL pick for this Sunday’s action.

Looking at a grander scheme of things, if we base who can knock off the Packers by win loss record and overall performance, a few teams come to mind. Firstly, the Detroit Lions are sitting at six wins and two losses through eight games, but have essentially been in every game. The Lions are in revenge mode the next few games, after dropping two and being pushed around in doing so. As a result, the Lions should have their NFL emotions running high when they face the Packers, since they will want to show they can play with the contenders.

Another team that has the possibility to knock off the Packers is the San Francisco 49ers. Currently sitting at six wins and one loss on the season, the 49ers have looked impressive under new Head Coach Jim Harbaugh. Comparable to the Seattle Seahawks upset of New Orleans, in last year’s playoffs, the 49ers could upset Green Bay, because the Packers may overlook the talent on their team. If this happens, the 49ers should be able to pull off the victory and then cruise into a Super Bowl berth.

In all likelihood, the Green Bay Packers will go undefeated this season. Aaron Rodgers appears to be a man possessed this season, with the Super Bowl his only goal.
