Can someone remind me; I'm always unclear about NBA rules. Can Maggette be traded immediately if he is signed by GS, or is there like a mandatory 60 day period before he can be moved in any deal?

If he can be moved, then please -- bring those trade ideas on!!

    Let's move Maggette!

Can we swap him straight up for Jose Calderon? Or Andre Miller? Or some other PG?

Package deal with Harrington and a pick for Steve Nash? [IMG]

No. You can't S&T other team's free agents.

If Maggette isn't overpaid, I see him as a welcome addition. If he can stay on the floor, he'll get 20 points in a game easy and make the defense a little softer because of the way he gets to the foul line. He's a bit like a Jrich type of power guard. Who wouldn't want an explosive athlete that can tear things up inside and out and rebound and run the break?

Plus, maybe we're not seeing the market the way the Warriors are seeing it. Maybe they're offering big money to the biggest names out there, but they're still like... "No..." and they got for less money somewhere else. I mean how bad are the Warriors where they're in a great sports market and guys like Brand say no and they can't get anyone else unless they overpay. It's starting to sound like another decade of losing seasons... that is unless Ellis and Biedrins re-sign. If we can't land max free agents no way no how, I hope we build with talented individuals. Maybe a depth of 2nd tier free agents might help. Like, if we had a team full of guys like Josh Howard, Manu Ginobili, Kirk Hinrich, Corey Maggette, and so forth, it could make up the difference because all those guys can score and defend and play any which style. We just have to avoid the guys that can't make adjustments like Fisher or Foyle. Those guys are one-dimensional role players whereas the guys I described above can do so many things.
