I'm just asking this because I can't say I'm an expert on the cap, but could we theoretically (realistically) max out LA and still re-sign lopez, wes and Afflalo?
If I owned the Blazers and had Paul Allen's money, I would open my wallet for this team. So I think, yes we can. I hope we do.
I don't think they end up with cap space. I don't see them renouncing bird rights to Aldridge, Lopez, Wes etc. I don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but I'd guess they would fall somewhere near the mini mle line after resigning everyone (unless the deals are outrageous)
Personally i feel that the road to a championship is longevity and solid players. The Blazers have that. What they need is to continue to do the little moves that continue to upgrade the roster and keep the nucleus. A winning team and culture is being built up again. The way it looks at this point they will flirt with the cap for one year. This is not a problem at all because the real tax comes from extended time over it. That simply wont happen as the cap increases. Unless of course they try to add another max contract. To answer your question yes they can. I will add i feel they should.
Well considering the odds that the Achilles injury and being 100% isn't, it would be foolish to make that offer. What if Matthews is never the same and he got signed for max for 4 years? That GM could be fired quicker than he came in the door
If the Knicks were to get lucky and win the #1 pick and take Okafor. They have Carmelo already. I could see them seeing and thinking Wes could be a fit with that team. Not sure if he fit's in a triangle. But defensively, he's going to fit. Therefore, It wouldn't surprise if they were overpay for him. I think Neil will play him one dollar more. But I could see them overpaying.
