...in some ways, the medical field/doctors is still as much in the dark about the human body as the were 100 years ago; Point; http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...se-cancer-world-health-organization-declares/ Counter point; http://www.wired.com/2015/10/who-does-bacon-cause-cancer-sort-of-but-not-really/
...^^^ 1- this gives smoking meat, I mean 'smoked meats;' - and/or- "I'll take a pack of Camels"new meaning,.... 2- a clip of the 'bacon causes cancer?' - "The way WHO classifies cancer-causing substances, on the other hand? Maybe a little dangerous to your mental health." - "Because it is really confusing." WTF- Wonder how long before Bacon Packaging Plants adding labels, ie "Consult your shrink before eating," or - "send 1 proof of purchase seal, for a Month's supply of Prozac".....!!~~
Way to consider risks without weighing the benefits....brought to you by the same world order fanatics that declared CO2 as toxic (tell that to plant life).
^^^remember a few years ago when they decided that eggs were bad for you?...and then do an about face a few years later? ...as with most things in life...do things in moderation.
one man's moderation is another man's excess. Eat, drink and love...life is too short not to enjoy them all.
...^^^ Amen Tote.....~~!! I'd rather enjoy life to its fullest, and die young. In lieu of watching everything I consume and dying old, decrepit and always in pain....... wait, the latter has become my life, too often.........
I asked my Dr. "why am I always in pain?" He said: "That is why its called Chronic Pain." WTF.........
...ironically, I had a a scare with the wife a couple of days ago that thankfully turned out to be only a false alarm...but I spent the night with her in her room at the hospital and the next morning I went down to the hospital cafeteria to get some coffee and a little breakfast. They had a breakfast buffet, and guess what the first item in the window was? ...yup, the biggest damn pile of bacon you ever saw...must have been 10 pounds of this supposedly deadly carcinogenic food being serve inside the hospital...can't make this shit up.
...thanx Tote. ...damn doctors, they love to scare the shit out of you so you'll submit to any test they feel like administering...and they did.
I try and avoid them as much as I can. Tests have substituted the basic diagnostician and bedside manner....now its all CYA. That said there are certain basic screens we can demand as they truly are preventative. Whole body MRI and Pet scans should be an annual program for 50+. They earlier detection occurs and having a baseline reference point, the cheap treatment will eventually be. Hammer can back me up on this, today's new cancer drugs while being given to folks in late stages....these drugs given at stage 0 or 1 can effect remission and in some cases molecular remission. Both my parents cancers were not detected until stage 4. Mom has beaten it, but 1.5 years of fight and major surgeries have really kicked her ass. Pop won't make it because his is inoperable, now almost 2 years into his battle with stage 4 lung cancer. The drugs has prevented spreading and metastasis at this point. 10 years ago they would both be in the ground by now.
Q of L is attitude as much as physical. People who want to live tend to do better here. My Pop has had to make up stuff to add to his bucket list, lol! No doubt, some of these chemo treatments and surgeries are medieval. My dad has an awesome oncologist, this guy gets it. He asks his patients to fight with him until he says no mas. Treats everyone like they are his family...he is rare indeed
I'm really greatful. Pop doesn't have much time, but his doc sure is helping him make the most of it.
It's great to have your Medical insights Tote. I wish the best for You, and your parents, and hope your pain is not over bearing, as much as that of your kind, gentle Parents.....*** *** I know they were kind and gentle, or they would not of had and raised a one of a kind Totus......!!!
