LOL if we lose this guy to have signed Jacoby Ellsbury it's the icing on the cake to the Trashman era. Homegrown player that suits up everyday and hits for power from 2B v an injury prone Red Sox farmhand who steals bases. HMMM? If they are bluffing they've been called, ANTI UP BITCH

Mariners Willing To Pay Cano $230-240MM
By Steve Adams [December 5 at 3:21pm CST]

Robinson Cano flew to Seattle to meet with the Mariners in person today, and the team has informed him that they are willing to pay as much as $230-240MM on a 10-year contract, according to Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com (Spanish link).

It was reported yesterday that the Mariners may have topped the Yankees' offer of roughly $170MM, but if true, the reported $230-240MM offer would shatter the Yankees' highest bid. The Mariners met with Cano's representatives on Tuesday, according to multiple reports, but this appears to be the first instance of Cano traveling to Seattle to meet with club officials.

Cano and agents Jay-Z of Roc Nation Sports and Brodie Van Wagenen of CAA are said to be seeking something in the neighborhood of $252MM. The Yankees reportedly will not offer Cano more than $200MM, and in the wake of that news, the offense-starved Mariners appear to have emerged as major players in the Cano sweepstakes.

The Mets meeting was Cano's agent being wet behind the ears and inept. He set a meeting to try to act like he was selling a mansion to a paperboy and that anyone would take it seriously. The Seattle meeting is 3000 miles away with $$$$ being tabled. The power of denial is strong with you. Yankees better get their checkbook out and keep it out. They skipped steps 1 & 2 and jumped to steps 3 & 4. Cano and a front of the rotation SP were the priorities. Robbie is in Seattle, time for Cashman to stop acting like he can negotiate and overpay him like he needs to do for every FA he signs. Cashman is the worst negotiator of the modern sports era. He hands out no-trade clauses simply to have a crutch when a guy sucks and fans would call for him to be traded even though no one on earth would take their bloated contract. He overpays CC, include an opt-out clause, CC opts out, then he overpays him AGAIN.

Worst GM, worst executive in the history of sports.

Yankees Since 2001: No Player Development to Speak of and $2.8 BILLION spent on the 40 man roster, gonna top 3 billion this season. 1 WS Title in those 13 seasons to show for it.

Cano is not signing in seattle and has just taken a long plane ride for a fish dinner there that will not make the yanks acquiesce to his demands. If the poor bastard can't survive on 7 years for 175 million playing for a team like the yanks that is always in it I say get the hell out of here already. I hope the yanks don't increase their offer

My sentiments exactly, let King Felix tell him how big money and obscurity go hand in hand.

...yeah, like 3000 miles is a big deal on a private jet for a guy who has nothing to do till next Spring. Evidently Jay-Z is trying to convince Cane that Seattle is the "marketing" Mecca.

LOL @ thinking Cano would leave tens of millions on the table to stay in NY. ROFLMAO HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA Cano may give the Yankees a 1-2% discount, nothing more. The season is 1/2 the year and you spend 1/2 that time on the road and you spend 1/2 the time you are home at the ballpark. Seattle has top flight pitching, they can contend.

It's as if you guys are oblivious to reality. We overpay for EVERY big money FA we acquire. We just gave a slap hitting CF $153 million, you think Cano is going to ignore history and be the guy to settle for less from us? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

This statement is fact, so pay attention: Seattle will make an offer, Cano's agents will call the Yankees to counter, if they don't counter Cano will be a Mariner before the weekend is out

They are pieces of shitty contracts is what I should call them. They'll have ample time sitting on the bench together to become good friends, both will sit out at least 30 games.

What does he endorse in NY? Must have missed the commercial/ad. Is he making $50 million in endorsements here to make up the difference of the reported offers? LOL

The only value of signing with the Mariners is that you won't have to face King Felix. That's all they got... So, do you think besides the Yankees, that Boras is just laughing inside...

Just read where Heyman is reporting that the Mariners are preparing an offer of 240 million for 10 years. Now some will say how can you let Cano go and pay McCann and Ellsbury. Some other will say that that to much, and the term of 10 years is unacceptable. Others will say that we have to match or counter. But what few have said is this organization, has pressed forward with the distractions of Arod, the JayZ Circus and have added quality players. I have no idea what is going to happen if the Seattle report is true, I say, Hello Mr. Infante, would you like # 24?. And take all the rest of the money and move on.

Good get vette, but like I said cano is not going to seattle regardless. If Jay-z is on the plane ride with him cano is probably still smashing jay z's balls with his bat for fucking this whole thing up for him.

If the Mariners want to be dumb enough to give Cano a ten year deal than so be it. If I'm NY I make my best seven year offer and be done with it.

I served three years of service time with a guy from Puyallup never spoke much of it. When we came back from the Far East he invited me to visit before I went on. Spent about four days there and found out why he didn't have much to say. Yeah Robbie, take that Last Train To Clarksville and enjoy the destination.

    Puyallup's not even a suburb of Seattle--it's a suburb of Tacoma. ;)

As for 10/240M, who the hell else are they going to spend that money on/who will accept it? Hamilton said no. They wouldn't go to 9 years for Prince (though I can semi-understand that). What the heck do I care that they'll pay Cano 25M when he's 41? We just paid Ichiro 17M at age 39, and I'd think that Cano will bring as much to the table as the decline of Ichiro did. And I know that the Yankees don't have this problem, but there hasn't been a guy you can pencil in every day at the 3-spot in the lineup since Beltre in 2005 or so.

I wouldn't have batted an eye at 8/200M. 10/240M? Yep, it's an overpay, but you gotta have someone who'll take your money, and it seems Cano's listening.
