If any of you are looking to buy a point and shoot digital camera. I highly recomend this little beast. It kicks ass! http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/s90.htm http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Canon -...917.p?id=1218115079319&skuId=9491917&st=Canon S90&cp=1&lp=1 http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/canon-powershot-s90/4505-6501_7-33765880.html http://www.dpreview.com/news/0908/09081906canons90handson.asp
I was thinking of getting one, but I just bought a pocket point and shoot (SD780is). I was thinking a G11 or that, but migt go with the new Nikon P100 since it also does HD (1080) video. My research indicates its a good camera though. esp. if you need it pocket sized.
I also have a Nikon D60 DSLR but find myself more and more using the Canon S90 because its so much smaller and easier to pack around. I'm amazed at the quality of pictures I get from it and I'm still learning how to use it. I personally dont care about video when it comes to cameras. I have an HD video camera for that.
Yeah. I'm kind of displeased with the quality of my SD780IS. I mean its decent but I can't do as much as a camera like that. The G11 isn't overly bulky...dunno, the bigger lens and easier controls on top have me lean towards that if I needed to.
Read what this guy says about the S90 and the G11. His website is a great resource. http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/s90.htm Cameras he recommends: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/recommended-cameras.htm
It has a bigger lens, so I would think it would take better pics. maybe i dunno.... i already have a pocket sized, so a midsized one might work better for artsy shoots.
I have a Canon dSLR. I need to learn to use it better though. Like you said, too big for most uses....
I'm sure they'll release an HD video version soon enough, i'll wait until then perhaps. I'd like a better quality pocket cam.
I got a D40 a couple of months ago, and it's cool, but I can't bring it out to bars and such. That Canon looks like it would be better since I could put it in my pocket... Ed O.
Does it snap the picture right away or does it have that annoying delay between hitting the button and the picture being taken?
Dang, those were the days. Now it's all about getting a picture of my toddler son -- way, way geeky, but that's where I am in life these days.
Vanns did a good review of it as well. 5 stars. http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/details/495242074/canon-powershot-s90
I wonder if he got a whole bunch of these in bulk at $300 each and is trying to make a profit. His store doesn't know and hes getting a little extra on the side.
