Yeah, if Ray ever finds out about Blue Star, they'll run out of donuts at 8am instead of 10am

It's just crazy to me places like Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis have more real pro sports teams than Portland.

Clownzano is saying the stadium would be completely privately funded besides the $150 million bond, who's got that kind of money around here besides Knight and PA?

I thought the idea was that they were not from the area?

Parking is a problem there. You've got the MAC club and Lincoln High School right next door. You've also got a lot of people in aprtements around there. The Stadium Fred Meyer already has a problem with Civic Stadium overflow parking.

I just don't see that as a viable area even though I like it a lot. Went to that high school and most of my friends belonged to the MAC club. Also, watched a ton of AAA baseball there when I was a kid. Even watched a Portland Storms football game or two there. Saw the OSU Beavers football team play ASU there. Went to the Hospitality room at the Weinhard brewery first.. Seen a couple Timbers matches and a Thorn match there. I'm not sure 'cause it's kind of a blur for obvious reasons, but I believe I've seen a rock concert there.

So, as much as I love that area, I'm pretty sure several studies have shown it to be a no go.

A consortium. I remember when the President of the Blazers, Miller, was trying to head up such a consortium to buy the Blazers. So, yes there are a few guys with big money that could pool it.

I like that idea. Especially, when you consider that it would have been a great idea for many years now, not just to service the new stadium.

There’s parkades in the Rose quarter though, people could also take the max in. Be pretty much treated like a Blazer game if they played in the summer.

Hell of a lot more parking than at a Blazer game, maybe four or five times as much. Like I say, this has been studied for a long time and never came out as feasible.

If it’s a smaller ballpark, we are looking at 25k on a PACKED house. Rose Garden gets close to 20k almost every game. Parking shouldn’t be much worse.

Rose Garden has all kinds of parking lots. Where are you gonna put 2/1 times as much parking in that area? This would also require 2 1/2 times as much MAX traffic which isn't feasible. Also, a MLB team is gonna require over 50,000 seats of capacity and a football team will require 80,000 or more, perhaps over 100,000.

Show me a professional study that shows it's feasible and I'll take another look.

Hey, I'd love us to build a stadium there but it's all a pipe dream where you just throw out the need for all that parking in an area that's short parking as it is. I use to live in NW Portland and I'm very familiar with that area. I've known that area since about 1957 or so. Lived there in 1959. Went to grade school at Chapman. Lived on NW 25th and Northrup. Great area but NO PARKING.

Try this, drive down NW 23rd. Avenue and try to find a parking spot.
