With captain Alex Ovechkin out, the Washington Capitals needed someone to pick up the scoring slack.

Mathieu Perreault filled the role -- and then some.

Perreault got his first career hat trick, including the tie-breaking goal in the third period, to lead the Capitals to a 5-3 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.
