<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">OAKLAND -- It already worked once this season, so Brian Cardinal is willing to try it again.

Golden State's "secret weapon" in the first quarter of the season has slipped back toward oblivion in the past week with the return of Troy Murphy to active duty.

When last seen by Warriors fans before Tuesday's victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, Cardinal was scoring in double figures in four consecutive home games, including a 19-point explosion in a win over New York.

But the first-year Warrior, once the first man off Eric Musselman's bench, has averaged just 17.3 minutes of activity in the last four games, enough time to total only 32 points despite having made at least half his shots each time out.

That's just eight more points than he recorded Nov. 14 in a 31-minute stint against the L.A. Clippers.

Tuesday, he got in for just 10 minutes against the Lakers, contributing four points to the 107-98 shocker.

So when the Warriors host the mighty Sacramento Kings tonight, nobody's quite sure when and where they'll see Cardinal. And maybe that's not such a bad thing.

"It doesn't matter how many minutes I play. My role stays the same, and that's to try to help the team win by any means possible," the 26-year-old said.</div>

This is the kind of guy that any coach would love on this team. He is unselfish and gives 110% everytime he gets in the game. He is a huge reason for the Warriors early success.

Exactly. Tons of players who contributed as much as Cardinal did in the early season would complain about getting less playing time due to another player coming back from injury (read- Kurt Thomas). I guess he just has to work to prove that he deserves PT.

He has already done so much to this team and is quickly becoming one of my favorite Warriors, if not THE favorite. What a class act.

What a good team mate. Although he's played well, he will do whatever is best for the team, or whatever the coach thinks is best.

I can't believe SI ranked Cardinal the worst player in the NBA a couple of years ago...2 spots below Mark Madsen [IMG] both guys are now solid contributers whom every team would like to have on their bench...

SI just looks at stats and not players who make other players on their team a whole lot better.

Now that Murphy is back and Foyle will soon return also, Cardinal's minutes will dwindle.

Dampier has a legitimate shot though.

haha how come every year, Musselman and the Warriors discover a surprise contributor off the bench? LAst year it was Earl, this year it's Cardinal.
