If there's a thread about Chris Porter, there's got to be at least one for Cardinal. Last night just highlighted how if put in the right spot he can excel. Can he be a go to guy? Um, sorry no. Last night when he was given the ball to create in the 3rd, the Suns immediately trapped him and he lost the ball. However, his shot is so fundamentally sound, its sweet. Likewise, his passing and defensive rebounding is fundamentally sound. Most fans don't appreciate it but if you put a team of 5 Cardinals against 5 "me guys"/"athletic" guys like Ricky Davis the Cardinals would win nearly every time. If the fans don't buy it, then the teams will not put the Cardinals out there. I sure hope the Warriors hold on to him.

Cardinal's game keeps getting better as he adds more and more moves to it, like Jim Barnett pointed out. Did anyone see that nice fadeaway he had last night in the second quarter? He is emerging as one of the Warriors best players on both ends (this might sound far-fetched, but he does have one of the team's most consistent shots...) I sure hope that the Warriors keep him, and not let this fan favorite leave (like they let Earl leave after last year).

This guy is simply amazing. Cardinal has almost no athletic ability compared to most NBA players out there yet he makes them look stupid because he is fundementally sound. Could you imagine if God blessed him with an athletic body? The sky would be the limit. But he uses what he has to the fullest and without him the Warriors would be in deeper than they already are this first half of the season.

If he had Mike Miller's body he'd be a damn good small forward.

If he had Chris Anderson's body he'd be a damn good power forward.

Those are the most athletic white guys I could think of at the moment.

Glad to see another big Warrior fan in here to knows his stuff!

This guy is not even noticed, hell I bet most people around these boards bairly know who he is. He's not on your usual Sportscenter highlight, and nobody realizes how much he has helped the Warriors win games this season. He hustles and gives everything he has to bring, can't ask for much than that. He has produced well and I don't know where the Warriors would be without this guy. 10.3 points and 4.5 rebounds do not show for how key he is to this Warriors team at all. I hope this guy continues to start, it was very exciting to see what he brought for the Warriors last night, netting 32 points in their big win at home last night.

Yeah the guy needs a raise. 600k he's only making this year and its non-guaranteed. No wonder he doesn't want to be the one to shoot the ball, but they started him over Cheaney which gave him confidence and the fans love him to death. [IMG]

And even worse if we let him leave in the off-season I'll have to change my nick. I'm so anxious about the february trade deadline that I can't leave the website alone. Doh! Cardinal should be untouchable. Anyone else is free to go except for Damp, Murph, Claxton, and Jrich. Oh and Dunleavy is starting to grow on me a little.

I dont know about that. But I hope the team resigns Cardinal over Foyle because of his injuries. I have seen flashes from Foyle, and I hope he regains his form too. I just cant wait until this team is at full strength. Just imagine...

    Speedy starts 16ppg 6ast 2stls
NVE comes off the bench and hits big shots in the 4th quarter
Jrich continues to improve and becomes more aggressive
I want to see more of Petrius
    Cardinal starts and scores 15ppg 8rbs 3ast
Dunleavy comes in and plays efficiently
Murphy comes back, gets his legs and hits his 15-18ft jumpers 12ppg 10rbs
Robinson gets some well deserved rest and comes in as a defensive stopper
    Damp keeps playing well 13ppg 11rbs 1.5blks
Foyle comes in blocks a few shots gets a few follow up shots, corrals some rebs

That is an 7-8th seed team if I ever saw one.

Just a correction: It's Chris Andersen (with an 'e'). And yes, I think he is VERY VERY athletic big man. Too bad he's stuck with the Nuggets, who have too many big men.

Hah, funny. Hope it doesn't come to that (Cardinal traded, or you changing your nickname)...

The warriors really have no Franchise player. Whenever we seem to have one, Damn Saint-Jean lets him go. I miss Arenas. Speedy is nice, but Arenas was the man! It sure feels like the Custodian is this year's Gilb. They're both a feel good story for the warriors, and they're (or were, in Gilbert's case) fan favorites. Lets hope the Ws don't break our hearts and let another awesome player walk away.

I was actually kidding when I said make Cardinal our Franchise player just so you all know.[IMG]

Warriorsfansnc93- That would definately be atleast a 7 or 8 seed. The Warriors were blessed last year to have no injuries. This year they have been overwhelmed with them and are playing like a hurt team. I think we could really make a run in the second half if these players start coming back and making the impact we all know they are capable of making.

They key is getting Murphy's 16 ppg and 10 rpg back. People who are ripping Musselman (elsewhere) are forgetting that his starting PF from last year has been mostly nonexistent this year.

Brian Cardinal is great. 32 points is very much deserving for a hard-working guy like him. However, I think the Warriors should bring Cardinal off the bench once this team gets their key players back. Cardinal would give the Warriors a huge boost off the bench and even fight for the 6th man award.

Yea, I agree Franchise. I think this starting role is a great experience for him and will do wonders for his confidence but we still need Dunleavy in that starting role.

I agree that it is great what Cardinal can do for us off the bench, but I am so dissatisfied with Dunleavy at this point that I think Cardinal has deserved to start over Dunleavy. Dunleavy could also give us a great lift off the bench. The only time Cardinal has dissappointed me is when he was wearing that stupid mask. As soon as he took it off, he played back up to the capability he is supposed to play at. Dunleavy has not gotten the job done like he should have, so I would start Cardinal. Dunleavy was hot before he got injured, but I think that is just a streak and not what he can do consistently. I mean, over 50% from 3pt range, no way. Cardinal does everything that Dunleavy does, but better right now. He passes, he cuts, he defends better than Dunleavy, he shoots better and gets to the line better. And when he gets to the line, he hits his free throws better than Dunleavy. Enough said.

I was advocating for a while when Dunleavy was doing poorly that Cardinal should start over him. Sure Brian's not a true small forward but he sures hustles to make up for it. He fights for possessions, takes charges, gets his defenders to draw a foul, hits his free throws, takes the ball closer to the rim with few turnovers, and hits a very high percentage shot from different parts of the floor. He plays smart and doesn't force things that he can't do. I think Dunleavy is starting to learn from this. The thing that makes me say that the only reason why Dunleavy should start is that Cardinal is so valuable coming off the bench is his automatic hustle, energy, efficiency and production right out of the box. Many of the warriors players can't do what Cardinal does unless they get into the flow of the game first. For instance, I think Calbert Cheaney is a horrible bench guy, but a decent starter. Watch Calbert's stats on the games where Richardson was injured or suspended. If Calbert starts for instance, he'll get a ridiculously high field goal percentage and number of points because he is the guy Avery or Nick will look to hit. But if he comes off the bench it takes him longer to get into the rhythm especially if "go-to-guy" Jrich is on the floor. Plus Jrich and Calbert always seem to have the worst turnovers when they are together on the floor due to either the passing or the pressure to take the shot if nobody is moving the way that is anticipated. There's probably a website with statistics to back this up, but I just think it points to the unit's decissions/ability to pass and move the ball. I would like to see at least Cardinal or Dunleavy out there to help move the ball better and make either Cheaney or Jrich the shooting guards. Anyone have any comments or proof that Cheaney and Jrich on the same floor together is weird if you don't have Dunleavy or Cardinal at the 3?

We should lock Cardinal up for a 2-year deal for $4-5M. He's a great presence on the team due to his hustle. Plus a little competition for the starting 3 spot shouldn't be all too bad now right?

Mid level exception would be nice.
