Interesting... I like Michael Bennett, but I'm not sure how good he'd be running on grass all the time. Turf is his weapon of choice...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Running back Michael Bennett resumed his role as the Vikings' nominal starting running back Wednesday, but his long-term future with the organization remains unclear.

Bennett's name once again has emerged in trade rumors, and a person with knowledge of the situation said the Vikings held cursory discussions this week with the Arizona Cardinals -- whose coach, Dennis Green, selected Bennett in the first round of the 2001 draft.

In-season NFL trades are rare, and no deal appeared imminent Wednesday. The league's trading deadline is Oct. 18.

But the Cardinals have pursued Bennett periodically since Green arrived last season, most recently before the April 2005 draft. Bennett is in the final year of his rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Meanwhile, Bennett was working with the Vikings' first-team offense Wednesday during the portion of practice open to the media. Mewelde Moore, who replaced Bennett after he fumbled twice in the Vikings' 38-7 loss to Cincinnati, also saw time with the first team.</div>

Doubt it will happen. The Cards have nothing to offer in return...

the cards have to get this deal done because in the 1st game, kurt warner was the leading rusher

    No-No-No-No

This would be the dumbest move by the Cardinals franchise. They are going downhill. For one Bennet is in his contract year so giving away a draft pick for a guy for probably 14 games or less is not smart. Also J.J. Arrington is the future so lets not rule him out yet. Give him time. I mean Ronnie Brown and Cedrick Benson aren't exactly wonderful right now and they were top 5 picks. I'm also not to sure if the Vikings should deal him. I mean he's probably the biggest threat on the offense now and just needs a line for him to get in a groove.

Well I wouldn't since the Heart of your team is built through rounds 3-7. Thats where you find gems. Bennet is in a contract year it's not worth giving away a 4th round choice for a back who'll be with you for only about 14 games or less.

They could make the trade contingent on him signing a longer term deal. They would need permission from the Vikings to talk to Bennett and his agent about that first.

I wouldnt trade for bennet, the cards cant think that bennet will be better than JJ arrington by week 8, JJ has so much potential, i think it was sean salisbury that picked him for offensive rookie of the year canidate before the season started, i agree with that, the kid looks good

He had 10 rushes for 8 yards in week 1. I think he'll be good eventually, but not this year. Marcel Shipp should start this year and Arrington should be a situational player until he gets some experience and has another year of training in the weight room.

Doubtful with J.J Arrington being the future and such. Bennet will probably want a chance to start somewhere.

Remember, its Dennis Green in Arizona...he's the one who drafted Bennett.

I will give you that, but he just drafted JJ, and when I said the kid looks good, I was referring to his college career, ik that doesnt always mean they will be a good nfl player, but i just have a gut feeling it will carry over to the nfl for this kid.

The only winner in this trade would be the Vikings. He sucks as a RB and is very injury prone. We will part ways with him either at the end of the year or a trade. To everyone who thinks that he would get a starting job somewhere else is dreaming because he will not be able to stay healthy. He'll give give you a max. of 10 games. That's why I think that he will probably be 2nd string RB. Arizona would not be the place for him. He'll probably end up in NY Jets or the Packers at the end of the seasons.
