Knicks coach Derek Fisher said Friday there is a possibility Carmelo Anthony may have to be shut down for the remainder of the season because of his sore left knee (ESPN, Jan. 2).

Anthony did not play in Friday’s 97-81 loss to the Pistons at the Garden, the Knicks’ 10th loss in a row. Anthony, who has had a sore knee since the second game of the season, has missed three games this season.

“From the conversations I’ve been a part of, I think everybody is smart enough to realize, calendar wise, timing wise, that there may come a point that that’s the decision that needs to be made,” Fisher said Friday. “But [we realize] that we can’t force Carmelo to that point just yet.”
