Carmelo named Player of the Week for the Second Time <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Anthony led the Nuggets to a 2-1 week, competing with Utah and Portland for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. April 10 vs. Portland: Tallied 30 points (23 points in fourth quarter and overtime), five rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 110-100 overtime win over the Trail Blazers. </div> Wow, the second one for him, I think he's the only rookie this year to be named player of the week. Impressive stuff, he's really impressed me in how whenever they have a "must win" game, he suddenly scores 30+ points and grabs like 8 rebounds.

Anyway, congratulations to Melo. He has played very well last week.
It's just a really easy explanation for James to run away with ROY: The hype. Carmelo will be a very distant second.
Carmelo is just humbly doing his job. What a great player. No disrespect to Lebrion but I think Carmelo deserves the Rookie of the year award. Even Lebron said himself carmelo was better. But in Lebrons defense does Carmelo really have a better cast of players supporting him?

Carmelo is a great player and i have been a fan of his since he was a sophmore in high school, but saying LeBron will win it because of "hype" is just not true.

This is the exact same situation as last year with Amare & Yao. They had virtually the same stats, & Yao had all the hype. Then Amare made the playoffs, & yao didnt which was why Amare won ROY. Dont even bring the "Lebron is more marketable" BS into it. Yao is 10000X more marketable than Bron cuz of his appeal to China & Asia yet he didnt win ROY. Dont forget that Melo has lead his team to OVER 3X the number of wins last year playing the the toughest division in the NBA.
I really want Carmelo to win the ROY bad, but if anything he'll probably be getting CO-ROY. I really don't expect him to even get that, but he's the ROY this year in my mind. He's been great for Denver, and now he's even hitting big time clutch shots. I'm sure many ( mean really many ) of you would disagree with me, but he is defintely the ROY.
The NBA.com fan voting just came out, and so far for the ROY votings Carmelo has 71% It probably will turn upside down and LeBron will win it at the end though lol
LeBron got alot of pressure, he came from high-school, and every fan in the world was expecting him to put up great numbers he did to... Carmelo came from winning college, there's alot of pressure already, and then get pressure in NBA, is just naturally, but he got more than usually, but LeBron deserves the ROY, but still, Carmelo is a crazy player, but LeBron is even more crazy...
Celebs on hand for Nuggets' big win <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After the game, Jordan, a six-time NBA champion, went to visit with Anthony in the Nuggets' locker room. Jordan declined comment on what he told Anthony other than to say he was there to support Anthony. "He said he was proud of me and to keep doing what I'm doing," said Anthony, who added he wasn't nervous with watching. "He knows it's hard out there. "He told me he was coming to my last home game. It means a lot to see him out here and he had a lot of other things to do. He's the teacher. I'm the student. Didn't you see the (Jordan Jumpman) commercial?"</div> Jordan and Melo really have a relationship going now, interesting. Before the game, Bzdelik said Anthony deserves to be rookie of the year. "He got us 43 wins," Anthony said of Bzdelik. "They had 17 wins last year. I don't know how the front office thinks, I can only say what I think. He got us 43 wins. We did it also, but he was important. He was controlling us from the sidelines. If you could give me one article about LBJ being ROY that doesn't say anything about the ''pressure'' or ''high expectations'' I'd be glad to read it. Don't get me wrong now, in no way am I bashing LJ, he's the best player to come out of HS ever (and will probably be for a very long time), and even impressed me. But if it comes down to just stats, Carmelo is probably tied, or even better.
