But Carter can't wait to play for his new team and prove he hasn't lost a step or an inch on his vertical jump.

"I'm going to make a lot of people eat their words when it's time," the former Toronto Raptor said after his first practice with the Nets. "Don't be my friend later. If you hate me now, hate me later. I don't mind."

I knew it, eeveryone is commenting on VInce's character for vowing/making to do stuff in NJ. Who can blame him? He was dissatisfied witht he Raptors management and had no reason to try hard(for himself). I think if the Raptors did something to satisfy him over teh off season he would be trying hard in Toronto.

Vince, sooner or later would have wanted to do someting to "re start", I mean the media along with tons of fans have criticized him without even taking his injuries into concern, and because he wasn't dunking last year(even thuogh he was contributing and missed 8 games or so) he was called an injury prone person who tons of fans wanted out of Toronto.

I see no reason for him not to want to "make people eat their words," the public has been pretty critical. On that note, I figure he would want to do that in Toronto(eventually) if he wasn't traded, but that's not the case.

He has said these statements before. If I remember correctly, he said it after the end of the 2003 season and came to have a mediocre season in 03-04, but I felt he could have done better (not say 22, 5 and 5 isn't good but it's just not classic Vinsanity numbers).

I'll wait a couple of games and a couple of 30 point games before I can decide on whether Vince is "back" or not. But, he seems really happy though. I saw him in an interview after a Nets practice and he was all smiles, somethin I never saw, or haven't seen in a long time, at a Raptors practice.

You know I'm a raps fan first, but I do hope Vince can get his career back on track in NJ.

Anyway you look at it, VC wasn't going to be motivated in TO. It doesn't matter why, it just wasn't going to happen. He was tired of the management of the Raps, and Raps management was tired of spending so much money on a unmotivated superstar.

What's going to piss me off is if VC gets his career back on track and people start writting comments like "Fire Babcock", "Look what Vince could be doing for the Raps". Fact of the matter is that the move may motivate Carter. Something that he hasn't been in 3 years. If he hadn't been traded it would have been same old thing everynight from an unmotivated Carter.

Vince, even if he has problems with the management, shouldve at least tried for the city of Toronto, and the fans, before he got traded, watch if Kobe wants out of Los Angeles he would still try his hardest

I always thought thats what the players did since they're making millions per year. (In Vince's case 12.5 million [IMG] ) Vince already has a bad attitude and he's been down this road before, but this time he's another teams headcase.

But I'd never want to see a player fail, so lets just hope he actually follows through with his words. Maybe VC and Kidd will be the top duo in the east and lead them to a championship. Ingoring Shaq & Wade of course. [IMG]

At this current moment in time, Jason Kidd is no where near 100%. You can tell that due to his lack of assists, when he does you should expect to see Carter putting up the numbers again but If they fail to get many wins, he will be back to his old moaning self.

He said something like " I'll havemy revenge next season on those who took advantage of me when i was hurt" ..something like that after the season where the Raptors made the playoffs without him ... but then he got injured again in the following season (2002-2003) ...so i wouldn't be surprised if Vince wows the nets with another serious injury.

lol I don't think he plans the injuries though, but yea it wasn't before last season, it was 2 seasons ago he said he would get everyone back, but that wasn't the case since he wasn't on the floor.

    normally id agree with ice...

however this is the first time i HOPE to see a player fail. i got zero love for vince, and i hope to see him and his career flop face first in the mud

vince carter represents (to me) everything that is wrong with "professional" (and i use that term very loosely in this case) athletes. a team and city like toronto that showed him so much love, gave him close to 100 million dollars...he turns his back on. its just going to piss me off all that much more if he goes to NJ and shows what he was capable of doing, but was just wasnt mature or professional enough to do in toronto

    yes...i am bitter lol

Kidd definately isnt back to him old self. But there isnt alot of assist opportunties with this current Nets Roster. They dont really have the players to run in the open court. And they dont have many finishers around the basket, mainly the bigs, Collins etc. all have a difficult time finishing simple plays around the basket. Kidd has never been a guy to get alot of assist in the half-court, so the lack off a running style is hurting his ablity to set people up. With Carter's on-court arrival, you will probably see a re-newed pep in Kidd's step as well.

hmm I cant wait to see him in action.. I would be really mad if he started to dominate the whole game cuz that would mean that he screwed us over so far this season

Not really, he was actually trying last year, and their's not much "dominance" you can have if you're watching games from the sidelines.

vince was shown ALOT of love from Toronto. But also alot of HATE. The media was ridicoulous...they blamed him for everything...always getting on his case. The two worst cities for sports media bullshit are New York and Toronto.

That being said, i'm dissapointed in Vince. I dont buy that if the raps made more moves to be a contender he would of tried harder. He said himself that he didnt need to be traded to a team that can contend. He just wanted out of the city. I think purely has a change of scenery to jump start his senses as well as to be able to lash back at the media that scorned him. I truly believe that vince took the few papers saying bad things about him, and the few fans booing him over the last few years, and made it to be in his mind that those papers and people represented all of Toronto. I believe he grew discontent with the city and its people and so didnt feel like he owed them anything. Which is of course bull. He owes them at least 2 years at 12 million.
