The bittersweet memories of last month's British Open have been erased from the mind of Paul Casey as the Briton prepares for this week's US PGA Championship.

The Englishman finished tied for third at St Andrews, his best result in a major, but his joy was tempered by his disappointing performance on the last day.

He began the final round with his best chance of winning a major, starting four shots behind his playing partner and eventual winner Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa, but ended up eight shots adrift after shooting a 75.

His challenge ended on the 12th hole when a wayward tee shot led to a triple-bogey seven and he spent the rest of the day watching his opponent stroll to a comfortable victory.

"I really wouldn't do anything differently," Casey told a news conference on Tuesday ahead of the last major of the year.
