Helio Castroneves and Dario Franchitti reflected on their top speeds after veterans practice Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Castroneves had the fastest speed of the afternoon at 226.603 mph in the No. 3 Team Penske backup car. Franchitti finished behind Castroneves at 226.535 in the No. 10 Target Chip Ganassi backup car.

“It’s always good when you start in a positive way,” Castroneves said. “Certainly, there is still a lot of work to go. It was just the right time with the right moment.”

Scott Dixon’s top speed was 226.237, and Dan Wheldon’s best was 225.609. All topped Castroneves’ 2009 pole speed of 224.864.
