In the first NBA showdown between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, the best young player on the floor probably was Denver's Nene. Anthony and James were quiet in Denver's lackluster 93-89 win at Cleveland on Wednesday. Anthony scored 14 points but made just 6-of-17 shots, and James made just 3-of-11 shots but corraled 11 rebounds

Lenard got them started, Boykins finished the job.

Boykins is the 6th man of the year, book it.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The battle between rookies LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony went in favor of an Ohio native. Unfortunately for James, it was pint-sized Denver Nuggets guard Earl Boykins. Boykins scored 10 of his 18 points in a 2:04 span to lift the Nuggets to a 93-89 victory and upstage James' home debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James arrived in style at Gund Arena, wearing a white suit for his much-anticipated matchup with Anthony, who led Syracuse to the national title last year. The two exchanged greetings before the nationally televised matchup of two of the league's top young talents, which drew celebrities such as rapper Jay-Z and Cincinnati Reds outfielder Ken Griffey, Jr.

Anthony bounced back from a 1-of-13 effort in Tuesday's loss at Indiana to exploit Darius Miles for 14 points. The No. 3 overall pick got off to a strong start with seven points in the first four minutes but finished 6-of-17 from the field.

The top overall pick, James did not score in the second half and finished with seven points, seven assists and 11 rebounds. His lone scoring highlight was a one-handed dunk 5 1/2 minutes into the game for his only basket of the first quarter.

Bron and Melo played decent games..Lebron showed his great all-round game...Thats the good thing about him

    Nuggets now 3-2

I agree..Boykins has played amazing basketball..He was the deciding factor tonight..As he has in some of the other games.

Miles was a joke guarding Melo, just kept backing up allowing Melo to get deeper position for a better shot.

Look at LeBron's stats, what do you mean he did not do much? 11 boards, 7 assists, few steals, and 3 blocks...thats doing well in my book.

Yea, look at the miserable shooting while you're at it. Here, why don't you look at all the stat line for him.

    41 Minutes
    7 pts
    3/11 from the floor
    0/2 3 pts
    1/1 fts
    11 rbnds (2 off)
    7 asts
    2 steals
    3 blks
    2 tos

Ok, the one that sticks out is 3/11. Ouch. And only 7 points in 41 minutes of play. What happened to the LeBron we seen in opening week? Yea, he's gone. For now. But, it's not a bad stat line. The rebounds are good and so are the assists, but, for a guy who is supposed to be the savior of a franchise, 7 points won't cut it. He really needs to find a jump shot or else he could have a rough year.

Yea, and you're being nit picky by not looking at it. And, if you didn't notice, I edited my post and added more stuff. But, being called nit picky when I'm talking about LeBrons poor shooting by a guy who's username is King James, doesn't hurt that much. And really, why can't I be nit picky about it. You know, occasionally, you should look at everything, not just the positive. So, I looked at the negative and positive. Negatives, he can't shoot, positive, he can do practically everything else. But, as long as he can't shoot, people are going to look at that, and it won't just be me. He will be criticized for his inability to hit a jumper and it will not help him either. He needs that jump shot to get to the next level I think.

So what is next, KG for not getting out of the first round? Ben Wallace and his lack of scoring? Shaq and his freethrows? Kobe and his off the court problems? Earl Boykins for his lack of size?

    Quit your cryin' already.

Hey, I'm not complaining about anything. I'm just stating the facts. All people can do half the time is look at what Bron is doing correct and give him props. Eventually, you people will have to look at what he does wrong. He's doing a nice job right now with everything but his shooting, and that's the only thing I'm criticizing. So, yea, don't go rippin on me for criticizing about one damn thing. I'm sorry if he's your fav player or not, that doesn't mean you can't criticize. So, maybe you should stop whining at me about criticizing and start looking at flaws occasionally. I'm not biased about anyone. Kobe is my fav player and I've criticized him before. Just because you like the player, doesn't mean you can't criticize or state a negative. So, yea, don't whine about me stating a negative about LeBron.

Listen up cow, I am an unbiased basketball fan, and you are reaching out like I said you were. We could sit all day even with NBA legends and talk about what they could not do, but that would be so lame and weak. Have you not been to my Cavs forum? I rip the Cavs just like any other team/user it just does not matter with me. Stop stereo typing me as a biased homer and I will stop making an example out of you.
