Although I feel you raped my team in this trade, I'm glad you guys are getting a replacement for Boozer, because I think what he did was downright shady. Battie fits nicely on my team too.

The Orlando Magic have agreed to trade power forward Drew Gooden, Steven Hunter and the rights to second-round draft pick Anderson Varejao of Brazil to the Cleveland Cavaliers for center/forward Tony Battie

Hunter, a free agent, had to be signed to a new contract before the deal becomes official later today.

Battie, 6-11, 240, averaged 5.6 points and 4.9 rebounds last season, playing in both Boston and Cleveland.

Gooden averaged 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds last season, his first full year in Orlando.

Your right the magic did get raped in this deal... A very good deal for Cavaliers though, LBJ/Drew Gooden/Snow/Big Z are gonna be a crazy team.

Crazy...what was Orlando thinking? Gooden was supposedly rumored in some Dallas deal that would have brought Stackhouse and Laettner to Orlando, which would've been a lot better than Battie and some pick...

But Cleveland has done a great job these past few weeks...getting Snow...their having a nice offseason, getting Gooden, Snow and also getting Pavlovic, a nice young shooter from Utah...

Great deal for the Cavs. It's also rumored that the Magic also get an 06-08 1st from you and a 2nd. Still a rape though, considering Lebron and Gooden will be playoff contenders for years to come.

Wow Orlando was really stupid on this, the Cavs just basically replaced Boozer, got 2 players who can be pretty decent (Hunter I dunno, he's had too much time), and they also have a lot of center depth, for Tony Battie and future picks that likely won't be too high.

I heard Paul Silas is great with big men, hasn't been working for Diop, but that will make Gooden better, likely help Varejao, and maybe he can get somehting out of Hunter (or trade Hunter to the Raptors for Milt [IMG] )

I never would have thought at the end of last year that the 04-05 Cavs would look so different. Good deal though......maybe Paxon isnt so dumb after all???

I really didn't see a point in this deal for the Magic. With Howard gone, Gooden could of helped Orlando, but I didnt see him being a good fit there, with Francis, Mobley, Howard and Hill.

Great replacement for Boozer. I heard earlier in the day that he might be heading to Dallas, but that wouldn't make sense with Dirk there. Drew's gotta go with the clean cut look now and loose the high socks, and grow back the hair so he can get on Silas' good side, and then maybe he'll show his potential.

Gooden has the ability to be better than Boozer because he is more athletic. He's just got to be more consistent...

Boozer who? It's all gooden we got a replacement for that bum. Boozer played more minutes that Gooden, so the numbers should be simular when Gooden gets his 30+ a night. 2 pieces filled in one week is great for Paxon, he really saved his face in Cleveland. But guess what? It's not over, we still have our MLE to spend and EWill baited for sign and trades.

    Ilgauskas/Diop/Hunter
    Gooden/FA
    Newble/Jackson
    LeBron/Wagner/Pavlovic
    McInnis/Snow

:sniff sniff: I smell a great future.

i think this is a bad trade for orlando, but oh well now the cavs are looking good in the future, this is a good pickup for the cavs, i always thought gooden were similar with boozer.

Eric Snow will start over McInnis, if he's back.

Im thinking Battie will be somewhat of a mentor for Howard. He has been through ups and downs during his career and can give Dwight some good playing knowlege. Battie's defense is top notch and Dwight will learn and see what it takes to be a good/great big man.

Mabey not right away, but eventually that will happen. Silas has publicly said that Mac is his man and the starting job is his. But thats now, anything can happen during the course of the season.

Remember how Gooden played for Orlando when he was traded from the Griz? He was downright scary. He had something to prove, especially in the playoffs. Then the Magic had to go and get Flat-Shot Howard and start him in front of Gooden. It killed his momentum. I predict similar activity from Gooden with Cleveland. Even though I like Battie as both a person and a Mentor to DHoward, I feel that in the long run we'll see that the Cavs will have gotten the better end of the deal.

I fully expect Gooden to have a great junior year. His rookie season was impressive, especially in the playoffs against Detroit and Big Ben. He never found a home in Memphis, and in Orlando, when he was getting into a groove, they replace him with Juwan Howard. He has more athelethism than Boozer, the only thing to be seen is if he is as hard a worker as Boozer was.

The cavaliers team should be arrested for stealing good players this off season. After losing boozer they stole snow from philly for nothing. Also getting rid of some contracts they didnt want. Then they get gooden from orlando for nothing basically. A few second round picks and battie. For a rising star.
