<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtVision:</div><div class="quote_post">What about turnovers? I think Lebron would break that record in a Cavs uniform. </div> You mean turning over to each camera to display his ROY trophy? Of course. (thanks for being serious ) *cough HATER cough*
It's tough to retire so many Cavaliers from one era. Price, Daugherty, and Nance were a lock, but Hot Rod too...that's a tough call. That Cavs team were winners, but to retire 4 of their uniforms just for having winning seasons is a little stretch if you ask me. We have nothing to show for winning all those games.
True, but the Celtics retire a jersey everyday. I know they probably have the richest history in the NBA.....but they have retired at least 10 players that were on a Hot Rod level. Just to raise more discussion, do you think Hot Rod or World B Free deserves it more?

I love Hot Rod, but he was nothing more than a solid role player.
I'm not going to lie, thats a pretty sad list of players that make up career leaders for the Cavs. It just goes to show how desperate this city was for a star to come around. World B. Free was before I can remember the NBA, so I'm not at liberty to discuss his merits, but Hot Rod doesn't deserve to have his number retired. Hot Rod is comparable to Eric Williams in a way. Nothing spectacular, just a solid player that stayed around Cleveland long enough to work his way up the career lists.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting redscoon:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm not going to lie, thats a pretty sad list of players that make up career leaders for the Cavs.</div> Yeah that's exactly what I thought. This team has not had a star, has been nailed with injuries and bad trades. Thats why we are talking about 1st and 2nd year players breaking records, ha.
We've pretty much only had two runs with good teams. The early 80's, and the Price, Nance Daugherty years. But they were good years, not great years. Finally I hope we are building towards great years. This year actually feels like a great year, compared to the last bunch! LOL
The Cavs really haven't had a rich, storied tradition. They already have retired numbers that probably didn't deserve to be retired. Bingo Smith and Nate Thurmond for example. I don't think there are anymore former Cavs that should have their numbers retired. World B. Free did play well while he was here and was pretty much the only reason to watch the Cavs then but he wasn't here for a real long time and played on some bad teams.
