<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>RealGM Staff Report - LeBron James and Jason Kidd developed their friendship over the summer while playing for Team USA, and with Jason Kidd confirming to ESPN that he has requested out of New Jersey, the generation-spanning stars could become teammates. Brian Windhorst of the Beacon-Journal reported on Tuesday that front-office sources indicated the Cavaliers have contacted the Nets in order to learn what it will take in order to complete a trade for Kidd. Still playing brilliant basketball, Kidd is currently 13th in season FIC, the system used by RealGM to rank players. According to Windhorst's report, the Lakers, Nuggets, and Mavericks are also interested in trading for Kidd. Kidd was reportedly nearly dealt to the Lakers last February, but the club decided not to part with Andrew Bynum.</div> Source
Cavs have ugly PG contracts to offer in Snow this year and next, Jones this year and next, Marshall this year and next and Boobie should do it salary wise.....basically 4 players who's contract comes off the books in 2009. You basically break up Kidd's salary in to pieces, making it easier to deal off again.

These guys also take up roster spots unless you buy them out. Any deal with the cavs would have to include Hughes who's contract is just too ugly.
It would probably have to involve a 3rd team to make it work. The Warriors still have a large trade exception worth $10M from the JRich trade. I'm not sure if that could some how be worked into the deal with NJ ending up with it.
This weekend during the Cavs/Lakers game, James listed Kidd as his favorite player in the NBA. Followed by a group of players including Wade, Melo, Paul and someone I am forgetting. -Petey

Stein from ESPN was just on a local radio show, he said Mavs are front runner at this point.
Kidd going to the Cavs means the (very) slim chance that the Lebron-to-Brooklyn-for-100mill theory gets shot
Well Nellie and Mullin could essentially cock-block Mark Cuban from getting Kidd. There's a lot of beef between Nellie and Cuban and it would hurt the Warriors if they faced Dallas again in Round 1 if they acquired Kidd for nothing. Keeping Kidd in the East helps the Warriors and spiting Cuban is the cherry on top.
the cavs have no one. IF jones, masrshall and hughes were expiring then package them with AV and boobie but thats not the case

Anyway, I don't know how much the Nets will like the trade if it has to involve Hughes.

But it's all wishful thinking. Kidd will never go to Cleveland in a trade with the Nets.

I can't see Kidd going o the Cavs. they have nothing to offer. and I think Rod would like to send him to the West anyway.

Don't know if it be in Miami but considering Shaq and Blount would be off the books for 27 mil that season.
