<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN.com NBA Insider Chad Ford writes in his June 18 draft rumor column: "Where will Pavel Podkolzine land on draft night? Don't count out the Mavericks. Sources claim the Mavericks, who don't own a first round pick, have been talking to teams in the late lottery trying to move up to select Podkolzine, with whom Donnie Nelson fell in love with at the Reebok Eurocamp in Treviso. The Mavericks need a big, physical center in the worst way, and Podkolzine would be a perfect fit in Don Nelson's liberal offense. One potential scenario has them trading last year's No. 1 pick, Josh Howard, to the Cavs for the No. 10 pick." </div> Source
I vote yes.. Josh Howard is a good player and I don't see much coming from the 10th pick. But maybe we can get more out of the deal if they want it really badly.
If I were the cavs I would keep that 10th pick because there are many good players in this years draft. Plus players like amare was taken number 9. Rookie of the year. Kobe was taken at number 8. Just look at what happened. Josh Howard himself was taken at 28. So there are definitly still good talent left at number 10. They could get dalante West who is not predicted to be a first round pick. Could be a steal. They could get jameer nelson. Player of the year in college last season. Who could be over looked because of his size. They could also possible get a gordan since the sixers are the only team really intrested in him before the cavs and they are ting to move up to get a better player. Also there are players like childress out of stanford a big guard to play with lebron. There is young talent out of high school. There is no real SHAQ, Yao, or lebron in this draft, but it is really deep talent wise.
True but knowing Clevelands luck (outside of James) we don't draft that great. I rather see a player in his second year that is going to provide more stats and better teamwork then a rookie. But I'm leaning towards trading it but if it does happen I won't be mad or happy. Cause I don't really see much of a difference.
Josh Smith, Luke Jackson, Jr Smith, Jameer Nelson, Sabastian Telfair will all be available when we are on the clock. I believe we can get someone with just as much or even more talent than Josh Howard.
Here are my thoughts I think that if the Cavs do want to trade this pick (Unless they want to move up) should wait to see what is available at the 10 pick. If someone is their who they really want or need then they should take him. If not, i'm sure someone will come knocking on the FO door with a trade offer. I think that Draft day for the Cavs will mostly be wheeling and dealing. :two_thumb
I'd take Howard in a heartbeat. This guy is the complete package for a SF/SG. He's shown he can be a clutch player, and is a solid defender and scorer with DEFINITE upside. He doesnt seem to have much of an ego either.. And this guy knows how to play to win.. I don't know where everyone is getting these ideas about this draft. It's a BAD draft as far as talent goes.. If the Cavs draft a swingman they'll be incredibly lucky if he develops into someone as good as Howard. And for every Kobe Bryant or Amare Stoudamire you had a lot more picks who never developed. Vitaly Potapenko was chosen at 12 the same year Charlotte took Kobe at 13. How did that pan out? They could get jameer nelson. Player of the year in college last season. Who could be over looked because of his size. We have Mcinnis who has already proven himself as a very strong point guard.. And the last thing the Cavs need is more deer-in-headlights youth. Nelson may provide leadership, but is he worth selecting at 10? Telfair is a playground baller who may sell tickets but won't spend much time on the court if Silas knows what he's doing. Telfair is also someone who threatens to fall out of the first round..
